Picture[edit]

The picture needs to be shrunk. Takes up too much whitespace at the top. Student7 (talk) 22:04, 15 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Honorifics[edit]

Eliminated abbreviated honorifics. Okay to give title once before each person but wasn't sure what that was so didn't insert them. Student7 (talk) 20:40, 16 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Possible OR because of lack of references[edit]

You have an interesting article. I have learned a lot. However, both sides have to be presented equally in this article about legitimacy. No side can be perceived to have "won" unless the other side concedes which they won't. Therefore, documents cannot be presented in raw format and conclusions drawn. Rather, arguments have to be drawn from scholars or people of authority on either side. Otherwise we violate WP:OR by appearing to put forward a new argument or say that the opponents argument fails on inspection. Having said that, the raw material may be presented without comment. However, the conclusion may not be apparent to the casual reader!Student7 (talk) 20:59, 16 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Erased OR and lack of references[edit]

I've tried to explain why the OR citation was needed aa well as why references were needed. Both times, these have been deleted. These really need to be left in. I will ask for a third opinion. Then we will try arbitration. I would rather avoid both, if possible. Student7 (talk) 20:43, 16 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

OUTSIDE OPINION I would say yes- there are almost no references in the entire article, and those that are here are all in the bottom sections. It would be helpful if the other editor gave an explanation here. JeremyMcCracken (talk) (contribs) 22:52, 27 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

OUTSIDE OPINION Yes, definitely. There are three sources cited: one is a defunct website. The other 2 are a personal website and the website of a local church--neither are reliable. Since no reliable sources are cited, inclusion of original research in the article is quite likely, and more sources and citations are certainly needed. Keep the banners until the problem is fixed. If no reliable sources are available to confirm any of the content, then delete the whole thing. Nick Graves (talk) 01:33, 8 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Moving article[edit]

Please stop moving this article without discussion. Student7 (talk) 12:09, 18 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Merge dual titles[edit]

Following on from discussion at Talk:Catholicos of the East#Merge Proposal, and the deletion proposal from 2008 on this page, it seems reasonable to merge Catholicos of the East and Malankara Metropolitan and Malankara Metropolitan since both titles have been held by the same person for more than 80 years, and are set (constitutionally) to continue to do so. There is considerable overlap between the two pages, with this page already including the scope of the metropolitan title. The two titles are therefore most efficiently discussed together. Klbrain (talk) 01:00, 22 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Support. I concur, also there are already articles for both individual titles and there doesn't need to be an article simply to note they're held by the same person, this is comparable to the lack of an article for the joint holding of the titles of king of England and of Scotland, for example. oppose. The Malankara Metropolitan and catholicose of east are different, The Malankara Metropolitan is consecrated by Syrian Orthodox Patriach But the catholicose of east established by Ex-Patriach(deposed) Ignatius Abded Mshiho II of Syriac Orthodox Church, and continue independent church, When the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church doesnot accept lineage of syriac orthodox patriach, As per Constitution of Malankara orthodox church, the constitution of Malankara orthodox church "The Malankara orthodox church shall not recognize the Patriach, canonically consecrated with the co-operation of catholicos"(Constitution of Malankara orthodox). The one and only church is Syriac orthodox Church in Malankara, that is Jacobite Syrian Church. The other fact is Mar Thoma Syrian Church continue as Malankara Metropolitan denomination. the catholicos of the east[edit]

the catholicos of the east and the title of the malankara metrapolitan is vested in a single person who is the head of the indian orthodox church. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shawn reji (talkcontribs) 09:12, 11 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

120.61.7.59 (talk) 12:11, 13 June 2018 (UTC)the title of the Malankara Metropolitan now rests in the four Churches which follow the St. Thomas tradition i.e. Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church, Malankara Syrian Orthodox Church, Malankara Mar Thoma Church and the Syro-Malankara Church. It is highly debatable if only one of the sources is used to argue this position[reply]

Moving article to Catholicos of the East (Indian Orthodox Church)[edit]

To avoid confusion due to the different usages of the title, this article shall be moved to Catholicos of the East (Indian Orthodox Church). Br Ibrahim john (talk) 12:52, 4 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
