POV in a Perfume article?

Does anybody else notice that this perfume is refered to as "one of the best known" perfumes in the very first sentence? This is obvious POV. This is Wikipedia, where we display facts and information, not opinions and advertising. This should be removed. 71.205.26.227 (talk) 00:05, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

I've changed it to "most well-known"; the wording is suspect, because it could be read as "one of the best perfumes known". It's still suspect, though, because it needs a source, such as a newspaper article about it, or the company. I noticed the page after reading this feature in today's Independent, but that's not quite perfect. It describes the perfume as "the most legendary", and as "the most famous of all" of Chanel's perfumes, and quotes some presumably excellent sales figures... no, actually, it's really good. I'll use that. -Ashley Pomeroy (talk) 19:48, 15 October 2008 (UTC)

Drinking it.

Theres an old joke about drinking it (I believe its alcoholic) and though it odd it wasn't mentioned.(86.31.190.183 (talk) 23:01, 9 October 2008 (UTC))

Where is the old joke? Skiendog (talk) 19:14, 20 October 2009 (UTC)

Other notes

I swear I smell cinnamon in the first few seconds as this perfume is sprayed on. But I see no mention of it in the entry. --24.249.108.133 00:40, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

What about the phrase, "Something smells here, and it ain't Chanel No. 5"? I'm pretty sure this has a well-known provenance, but I can find no trace of it on the web. Any ideas? Mathwizard44 03:37, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

There's a scene from Jarhead when their commanding officer goes to use the latrines as Swoff is preparing to burn them, and when he tells the CO he's just finished filling the pots with diesel fuel, he replies that he "doesn't care if they're filled with Chanel No. 5." Anyone want that scene mentioned? I doubt it, but you never know... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.88.230.11 (talk) 10:00, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

Make a pop culture section. i think it would be relevant. Skiendog (talk) 19:15, 20 October 2009 (UTC)

Typography

Quote: ...»Bouquet de Catherine«, which had been inspired by Robert Bienaimé's big success »Quelques Fleur« ..., etc

Is there any good reason why we're using the unfamiliar-to-English-readers typographical marks » and «, rather than ", or simply using italics? -- Jack of Oz ... speak! ... 20:11, 4 May 2010 (UTC)
...and if there is, can we please use the correct marks, which would be « Bouquet de Catherine »? I.e. reversed, and with a space between the mark and the word.Persnickety (talk) 23:14, 1 August 2010 (UTC)
My guess is this content is a copy-and-paste from the French, possibly promotional material from the company? --87.194.211.85 (talk) 19:55, 9 October 2010 (UTC)

Working on re-editing "Chanel No. 5"

I'm currently working on the Chanel No. 5 page and have made major changes over the past three days. But there's a lot to do and it's a work in progress. When I first looked at the page the way it was written, it was basically an unorganized, incoherent compilation of information. Yes,I agree with everyone... the whole page needs to be re-written, and I have good source material so this is a project I'm continuing to work on. Betempte (talk) 00:35, 7 March 2011 (UTC)

Finished re-editing

Help please

I've finished my re-edit of the entire Chanel No. 5 entry. What needs to be done to delete the box at the top of the entry with the alert for re-editing? I'm fairly new to Wiki and need help with this process. Betempte (talk) 22:20, 11 March 2011 (UTC)

Redirects?

The Chanel website names the perfume as N°5 and Nº5. Should redirects from these terms be created? Oops daisy (talk) 17:56, 11 May 2011 (UTC)

I just wanted to say I just heard your new advertisment while watching Fox News and it was so wonderful it was the one where the fingers were dancing and my Mom used to use Chanel #5 when I was in High School and would let me put some on if I went some place special so the memory is wonderful. I can't always afford your wonderful frangance but I just wanted to tell you your commercial is very effective. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Junegavrilis (talkcontribs) 03:43, 25 October 2011 (UTC)

Whence the dot?

Why is it "No. 5" when the bottle just says "No 5"? Why are we including a dot? 89.70.85.121 (talk) 22:20, 12 March 2015 (UTC)
