I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Characters of the DC Extended Universe's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "AngelShazam":

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 12:27, 14 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

"Lex Luthor (DC Extended Universe)" listed at Redirects for discussion[edit]

An editor has identified a potential problem with the redirect Lex Luthor (DC Extended Universe) and has thus listed it for discussion. This discussion will occur at Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2022 January 31#Lex Luthor (DC Extended Universe) until a consensus is reached, and readers of this page are welcome to contribute to the discussion. Alphabetize?[edit]

Does this page need to be alphabetized? Right now, everything appears to vaguely be in release order. That is confusing to the average reader. If we are to undergo alphabetizing the list, I assume we go based on last name, first entry? So Superman would be listed as Kal-El, one word starting with K? Rather than Clark Kent? And Wonder Woman would be Diana of... under D, rather than Diana Prince? Any thoughts? TNstingray (talk) 01:24, 9 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

After further consideration, and comparing to the page Characters of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, I think the current release order is indeed a more structured way to present this information and avoid the confusion that is going on over there at the moment. Revisiting this, @InfiniteNexus and I just had a quick chat and agree that this page will continue to grow, regardless of whether or not James Gunn does a soft reboot, hard reboot, or leaves the current continuity of the DCEU/DCU as is, so I think down the line we should follow the model that was eventually adapted by the page for the MCU characters, namely that there is now a main "directory" page with a quick overview of the main characters, two alphabetical pages listing all characters regardless of "Main/Central", "Antagonist", "Supporting", and "Minor" status, and several pages for shows listed in the MCU.
One quick change we could make is to have a quick section describing, but not listing, the "Central" characters at the top, just like the main MCU characters page, before alphabetizing all the characters, moving the twelve characters currently listed as "Central" down into the alphabetized list. I guess we could also follow the release order of films and TV shows as proposed by @TNstingray, which is not too different than what we currently have here. But down the line, I do think the model used by the MCU will eventually be needed once the DCU/DCEU reaches 30+ movies and 5+ TV shows like the MCU currently has.
In the case of a hard reboot of the timeline, I'd also be open to having a page specifically for the current continuity, then making a new one for a new one. Just an idea unless that's unnecessary. WuTang94 (talk) 02:48, 12 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I support an alphabetical split of this page, but there are a few things I'd like to note. First, an overview section of central characters is not technically a requirement, it's only there on the MCU page because the text was already written and there was no place else to move it. I see there is a short paragraph here above § Central characters, but since it's not actually saying much (no offense) we could probably just move it over to the lead or delete part(s) of it. Secondly, for the DCEU it shouldn't be necessary to have standalone TV character lists, we only have those for MCU shows from Marvel Television (as opposed to Marvel Studios) because of all the questions surrounding canonicity. InfiniteNexus (talk) 04:20, 12 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I think it will be fine to have a "hub" page like the Marvel characters to provide a list of lists, as well as maybe provide a condensed summary of the state of the universe once we get more information (e.g. these characters were the central characters, problems ensue, enter James Gunn, here is the new state of things). And it might be fine to go ahead and link to some of the shows possibly due to weird multiverse shenanigans with Ezra Miller appearing in the Crisis event. Plus there's the Battinson/Joker situations, so I don't know. Hopefully everything is torn down to start over with clear direction. TNstingray (talk) 14:18, 12 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
On second thought, maybe creating a brand-new list page for the new DCU may be a good idea, especially if the current DCEU or what some people call the "Snyderverse" will wrap up after The Flash and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom and no more new characters in this continuity will be added. We could then just call this page "Characters of the DC Extended Universe (2013-2024)" or something, or leave it as is if the DCU and DCEU will be completely distinguished. WuTang94 (talk) 17:27, 16 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Right now, we should not be worrying about a potential reboot of the DCEU/DCU/whatever they call it these days. If a hard reboot occurs, then its characters should be listed on a new page (since it's a new franchise), but that will be a discussion for another day and an article likely won't be warranted until at least years. Now back to the matter at hand, if there is no opposition for an alphabetical split we can start mocking it up in draftspace (Draft:Characters of the DC Extended Universe: A–L and Draft:Characters of the DC Extended Universe: M–Z). @WuTang94: Any update on this? InfiniteNexus (talk) 16:56, 1 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

No preference, I'm fine with alphabetizing if that makes navigation easier for people, though I also see merits of the current system staying. Either way, I no longer think this list will grow to the size of the MCU list, especially with a full reboot of the DCU looking more and more likely under James Gunn, so I'm not too worried about splitting the page, though if you think it will make it easier to navigate, then I'm all for it.
