Reproductions[edit]

As I understand things, Bragg, later in life, started to license his hilarious etchings for reproduction, and there are a lot of reproductions. He did that for money. He also agreed, as part of the deal, to put his usual scrawl on the reprint in pencil, sometimes with numbering (as is done on etchings) to make them more valuable. The reproductions may have numbering like "79/150" but he did not personally produce them. His handwriting is worse on these, because he was old. Some reproductions have no numbering, and were mass-produced, yet people attempt to get high prices for them. His original work may have "First Edition" penciled on it, but I can't guarantee it. By doing this he created one of the most confusing art provenance conundrums (and maybe you'd call it a hoax) that has ever been. Consequently, the value of his original etchings have dropped. To verify this, all you need to do is spend some time googling his works. It is completely confusing. Wastrel Way (talk) Eric Wastrel Way (talk) 20:52, 10 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
