In the opening line of the article the word "Maharashtra" is also spelt as "Maharastra". It needs correction.210.212.179.148 (talk) 17:26, 7 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Copy edit concerns[edit]

I started editing this article a couple of weeks ago in an attempt to address the copy edit template up top. I've done quite a lot of work on it, but it's occurred to me that a lot of the info is rather generic and probably applies to many villages/communities in this part of India. This especially applies to the Culture section as I'm sure the traditions, jewellery, etc. are not confined to this one village, rather the wider area incorporating numerous villages in this district. I then came across the article for a village called Dhawade which is largely the same as the Chaugaon article! It appears that someone has literally cut and pasted all the content to create this other article which is a bit concerning. The section on Women's ornaments probably applies to the whole of India (for all I know), not just Chaugaon, and probably warrants a new or expanded article. The Jewellery article has a subsection devoted to the Indian subcontinent but this is more concerned with the history of Indian jewelry rather than the specifics of what is worn today. I've come to a halt before going through Food and dietary habits in any detail, because surely this is all very general stuff, and I can't see why it should be confined to an article about a tiny village in the middle of such a huge nation.
