Organization[edit]

The Cherokee Nation and/or the Cherokee Phoenix actually publish and release statements when Cherokee National Treasures die, since they are national heroes of the nation. The information is publicly available and I'm currently researching it. Since these are national heroes for a nation, why wouldn't we want to specify which ones are living? Similar pages for other nations and governments usually specify which individuals are still living. --TulsaPoliticsFan (talk) 23:42, 20 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

TulsaPoliticsFan, I'm not sure which other similar pages you're referring to. Most award lists are organized chronologically by date of award. See, e.g., List of Nobel Peace Prize laureates (which lists birth/death dates but isn't organized by them). Even if we assume that every death is covered in the media (I'm somewhat skeptical that this will necessarily happen 100% of the time -- even the deaths of relatively important people sometimes go unreported), the organization by living/dead means that this list will constantly go out of date if it is not updated. Okay, that's fair. I can shift the list to be one table and still include the death dates. Thank you for including an example and the feedback, it will help me improve the page. If you're interested in the topic, the "Cherokee National Treasures: In Their Own Words" book has been very helpful in researching the page.
