The fact that "the Traverse was part of a product placement by GM in the NBC drama My Own Worst Enemy..." contributes nothing to the intro; in fact it detracts from it. Chevrolet Traverse replaced the minivan and SUV![edit]

The whole reason Chevrolet Traverse was introduced was because the minivan and SUV sales were dwindling. Whomever deleted the info about the crossover being the successor for the Uplander and TrailBlazer needs to look that up. Matthew Cantrell (talk) 22:14, 28 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

"Mid-size"?[edit]

Where did this notion that the second-gen model is a mid-size CUV come from? In pretty much every dimension, it's the same size as the first-gen, which is unequivocally a full-size CUV. Yes, there is a such thing as a three-row mid-size CUV, slotted between the two-row mid-size and the full-size, but that segment is better suited to CUVs with a shorter than 115" wheelbase, like the Pilot/MDX, Highlander, Sorento, Santa Fe, Pathfinder/QX60, or even the new mid-size Acadia and the upcoming mid-size Chevy CUV (possibly using the Blazer name).

Is it because the new Traverse/Enclave shares the C1XX platform with the now-mid-size Acadia? Is it because the Chevy website markets it as a mid-size so that the full-size truck-based SUV Tahoe/Suburban can stand alone? I found that the Buick Enclave article also has this same error. I would have gone ahead and edited both articles to better reflect this, but I wanted to make sure there was no debate first. 142.54.26.44 (talk) 17:17, 27 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Despite it being the same size as before (slightly larger, actually), Chevrolet is calling the 2018 Traverse a "mid-size SUV" (see [1]). This is mostly because the Equinox is now a compact SUV/CUV, leaving Chevy without a mid-size SUV/CUV (at least until the Blazer comes back). They can use the excuse that it shares the C1XX platform with the Acadia and XT5, but the Traverse uses an extended wheelbase version. If we can find some reliable sources calling it a full-size (which is still is IMO), we can go with them, otherwise we'll have to match what Chevy considers it in the article. --Vossanova ^o< 21:04, 27 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Third-Gen Transmission[edit]

The current rendition of the article claims the new Traverse is going to use the "8L80" automatic transmission, likely based on the info that the vehicle now has 8 speeds. However, the Traverse is remaining transverse-engined for this generation, right? Chevy doesn't have a transverse-mounted 8-speed so far, so I assume a new one will be rolled out with a new designation - one that will have a T for "transverse" in it. Aggregated Powertrain section[edit]

The current version of the article has a Powertrain section that includes all generations of the Traverse, rather than discussing each powertrain in the generation that they are relevant to. This is likely a remnant of when the Traverse only had one known generation before 2017, and should be changed to be consistent with other articles in the project. This also applies to other sections such as Safety. Marketing can stay where it is. It is ok for Sales to be aggregated in my opinion, but I would not object to disaggregating it by generation if others prefer, as long as it is consistent with other articles in wikiproject.
