Could someone supply some references to BNP support and Chickenley being perceived as a no-go area for Asians (eg newspaper reports)? Paulleake 17:41, 2 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately, this would be quite hard to provide, seeing as Chickenley is not a ward in itself and I'm not even sure if the whole estate is included in "Dewsbury East" - I think some is in "Dewsbury South". However, it is well-known locally that Chickenley is almost entirely White and that Asians avoid living there. There are a lot of B.N.P. fliers around too. The best you can do is that, at the 2005 election, Dewsbury had the highest B.N.P. vote in the country with 5,066 votes. Local elections have seen around 7,000 votes cast in the town for the B.N.P. When you consider how many Asians there are in the area and presume that they wouldn't vote B.N.P., it seems reasonable to suggest that the bulk of this record vote came from Chickenley. If I do find any newspaper reports, I'll put them up, but I don't tend to read local 'papers.

Now that the BNP have won the ward that includes Chickenley, there is no need for the verification bit anymore. By the way, all of the estate is in "Dewsbury East" - none is in "Dewsbury South". a f c chickenley said mr ashley hunt the first manager —Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.183.134.209 (talk) 02:51, 20 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
