Nothing much to say. The minimum for an STD number requires 8 figures, and 1111 is quickest to dial on a rotary/pulse 'phone. So it was chosen as the quickest (and most memorable) Freefone number. Rapido 14:17, 1 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The "real" ChildLine number is actually 0800 111 111 (six 1s not 4). However, BT (who donated the number -- it was originally a test number for telephone engineers) also set up an automatic divert so that calls on the shorter 1111 could go through. There is nothing to be gained by dialling the six ones, though -- callers still end up in the same queue.

Free on mobiles[edit]

Fair use rationale for Image:Childline.jpg[edit]

Image:Childline.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

This paragraph seems a bit out of place[edit]

Some of the second paragraph in the "UK Operations" section does not read like an encyclopedia article. For example, "The tragedy of child abuse is that..." feels to me more like something from a promotional leaflet or magazine article, and "if a problem is important to children and young people, it is important to ChildLine" seems like a slogan more than anything. I'm all in favour of ChildLine's operations, but Wikipedia is not here to promote them, rather to describe them. Online discussion[edit]

I don't think it mentions anywhere that you can contact childline throught Childline.ie - People can leave a public message, or a privite message all of which will be answered buy childline within 4 days. You can also contact ChildLine on the UK website childline.org.uk - where you can send private or public messages and have real-time chats with a counsellor.

Disambiguation[edit]

This article refers specifically to Childline in the United Kingdom. However, there are many Childlines operational throughout the world, for example Childline South Africa. When there are 3 or more "Childline" articles, Childline (disambiguation) should be created and a hatnote to it put at the top if this article. If and when there is no clearly "most well known" organization using the name "Childline" then this page can be renamed as you suggest and the disambiguation page moved to this title. As an example of a case where the most well-known entity gets to use the "main" name, see George Washington and George Washington (disambiguation).
