"To Chop Top's delight he has found that if he heats up a clothes hanger and scratches the metal plate on his brain he will "get off"."

What's your source for that? It never looked like he was getting off, nor did he ever say that. It always looked like he was scraping at the skin around his plate for the sole purpose of eating the skin. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 12.164.212.250 (talk) 13:58, August 20, 2007 (UTC)

I removed the 'appearances' section from the article because it claims that 'chop-tops backstory is revealed through a series of flashbacks showing that he was in the vietnam war and was sent home to his family'. There are no such scenes that exist in the film at all. Either re-write this section correctly or remove it because it is completely inaccurate. Chop-Top does say in the radio station when he is beating on Kinky Friedman "NAM FLASHBACK!, NAM FLASHBACK!" or whatever but that's all that is referenced about him being in vietnam. Someone who has either not seen the film is including this inaccurate claim about vietnam flashback scenes being in the movie or they just want to put wrong information in the article. - Russell —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.140.216.53 (talk) 21:09, 3 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, that was me. Sorry, been a while since I saw the movie (years); guess I remembered incorrectly, thinking there were actual flashbacks in it. -- Lord Crayak (talk) 02:33, 14 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think his exact words were "OW OW OW He dented my plate oh my brain is burning NAM FLASHBACK NAM FLASHBACK oh... Leatherface you bitchhog look what you did to my sunny bonno wig do oh god damb it there gonna have to send me back to the vietnam hospital with this dent in my plate." User: Lord ciron 2.0

Merge proposal[edit]

Apparently, this character page is being redirected and unredirected enough that I need come in and start a discussion. My personal opinion: Chop Top is a one film character, who has some brief appearances in the comics. The page fails WP:NOTE, and I don't see a lot of real world information being found on the character that couldn't be said on the Characters of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre page.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 20:02, 9 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If the content is worked well into Characters of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Bill Moseley and/or Cornbugs that's ok but I don't think it's ok to just blank the page like EclipseSSD did two times before WITHOUT including any of the content into other articles and even disguising it as a minor change. Wouldn't mind keeping the article but expanding it a bit. --Say Headcheese!--hexaChord2 00:30, 10 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I do agree, that blindly blanking and not putting the additional information in an appropriate place isn't the way to handle it. But, like I said, the character himself isn't notable beyond fans of the franchise (he's in no way equivalent in iconic status to Leatherface), so I highly doubt there is anything to really expand this article beyond its present state.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 04:29, 10 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I strongly agree with the merge porposal, the caracter isn´t notable beyond fans and the article lacks of real world value.HectorCaire (talk) 16:58, 13 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Merge You're right, I probably shouldn't have blanked the page outright, so that was a mistake. I still think this (and probably the Leatherface article) should be merged because the characters aren't really that notable to have their own articles.--EclipseSSD (talk) 16:21, 25 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Real name[edit]

The article claims that his real first name is Robert, but I always thought that that was a rumor started by a mishearing of the line “you’re gonna have to buy me a new plate cover.” Also, the source that supposedly backs up the claim doesn’t appear to be reliable. 2601:8B:C401:DFF0:A5EA:63BB:D286:6C92 (talk) 01:33, 1 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Spelling[edit]

The article is titled "Chop Top". Every instance of the name in the articles for the individual films and the franchise is spelled "Chop Top". So why does this article keep spelling it "Chop-Top" with the hyphen? Kumagoro-42 (talk) 14:29, 24 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
