Edit request from Gaobowen, 28 May 2010

{{editsemiprotected}} UCSC is in Santa Cruz County which is on the central coast, not Southern California.

Gaobowen (talk) 13:20, 28 May 2010 (UTC)

Done. I removed the sentence, since it wasn't about Chris Hardwick anyway. -- JHunterJ (talk) 14:24, 28 May 2010 (UTC)

Nerdist?

Why is there practically no reference to Chris's website, Nerdist.com? Kouban (talk) 00:01, 2 June 2010 (UTC)

He Is Johnny Hardwick Brother

Edit request from Titans773, 12 August 2010

{{editsemiprotected}} Chris Hardwick said on Sirius XM's Opie & Anthony Show August 12, 2010, that he was named after American sportscaster Chris Schenkel, who was the ABC announcer for the Professional Bowlers Association for 36 years. Hardwick is the son of former professional bowler Billy Hardwick. Chris told a story of when his mother was once speaking about the pregnancy with Schenkel about the family was expecting a girl. Schenkel said if it is a boy name it Christopher and the mother said OK. Obviously it was a boy, thus the name Chris.

Titans773 (talk) 21:02, 12 August 2010 (UTC)

It is always tricky to reference a radio broadcast, because often they cannot be checked later; however, I managed to find the basic fact that he was named after Chris Schenkel in a published magazine item that Hardwick wrote in Wired, here, so I added that to the 'personal life' section. I hope that is OK.  Chzz  ►  22:00, 12 August 2010 (UTC)

Problem with a link?

I just had a friend message me (since I know about Wikipedia and she doesn't) saying that she clicked on the Nerdist link and got a mess of malware. I'm on a Mac, so I can't verify this, but is there any sort of process or check one can do? EVula // talk // // 22:13, 5 December 2010 (UTC)

Tennessee high school

his memphis, tennessee high school is: St. Benedict at Aurburndale. <http://www.facebook.com/pages/St-Benedict-at-Auburndale/115117311833102> — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.155.213.205 (talkcontribs) 13:54, 29 May 2011 (UTC)

Thanks- it looks like Hardwick is mentioned at Saint Benedict at Auburndale, but it'd be nice to have a reliable source indicating it is true. (the facebook link is just a mirror of Wikipedia) tedder (talk) 15:19, 29 May 2011 (UTC)

Edit request from 173.61.55.128, 1 June 2011

please change "Christopher Ryan 'Chris' Hardwick" to either "Christopher Ryan 'Big C' Hardwick" or "Christopher Ryan 'Chris' Hardwick aka "Big C" due to his recent appellation with said nickname during a "hostful" episode of the Nerdist podcast. alternatively, in keeping with his insistence that "Big C" is a euphemism for cancer, change his listed name to "Christopher Ryan "Cancer" Hardwick"

173.61.55.128 (talk) 00:42, 1 June 2011 (UTC)

There are no reliable sources calling him "Big C" or "Cancer". It's a nickname he doesn't especially like that was coined in a podcast. This is aimed at articles but is appropriate in this context too- Wikipedia is not for things made up one day. tedder (talk) 00:46, 1 June 2011 (UTC)
Concur with Tedder--this needs a reliable source, not a podcast. I'm marking this as answered. Qwyrxian (talk) 06:18, 1 June 2011 (UTC)

Aaron Paul

I'd like to see more detail on how Chris Hardwick is not Aaron Paul, I think many people are confused on this controversial topic. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.34.130.22 (talk) 22:17, 19 July 2011 (UTC)

He's also not Felicia Day. So? Confusions on various people should be done with reliable sources. For instance, has NYT talked about the confusion of the two? I doubt it. tedder (talk) 22:31, 19 July 2011 (UTC)
I do not see what your obsession with Felicia Day has to do with this discussion. I have spent many hours starring into the pictures of Mr. Hardwick and Mr. Paul and I still have a HARD time telling which is which until I flip the photos over and see which name I've written on them. I do not care to say how many times I've had passionate conversations about their possible doppelgangerhood with reporters and newsboys from the NYT. Besides communistic NAZIs of the Muslim persuasion, who actually cares what is printed in the NYT? PALIN FOR PREZ YOU CARD-CARRYING, GAY, JEWISH HITLER YOUTH MEMBER (no irony intended)! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.34.130.22 (talkcontribs) 17:48, 21 July 2011 (UTC)

"Hardwick quit drinking alcohol in 2003."

Is this notable? Lots of people quit drinking alcohol. I'm not seeing the relevance/notability? -DMurphy (talk) 04:29, 25 October 2011 (UTC)

Well he was an alcoholic for many years, so I think it's completely notable, just like drug problems are mentioned in other articles. 121.45.146.55 (talk) 06:02, 24 December 2011 (UTC)

Rock of Ages

Should't it be mentioned somewhere that he was in The Rock of Ages when the show was in LA? With all due respect, BrianGriffin-FG (talk) 02:34, 4 June 2012 (UTC)

Web Soup is over

The article says he currently writes for "Web Soup" a show on G4 which was cancelled a long time ago. (This year I think) Cwjakesteel (talk) 03:34, 9 September 2012 (UTC)

Media

In the info box there is a "Medium" section. But since he works in more than one medium, shouldn't it be a "Media" section? 174.49.253.180 (talk) 01:59, 6 April 2013 (UTC)

Texting address

Interestingly enough, on today's @Midnight (airdate: 11:59pm@2014November20, aka 00h00@21November2014) he (Hardwick) posted a phone number for Taylor Swift to text. [(III.II.III)IV.V.0-VII.VIII.V.V] if rendered Roman. So this was publicly posted and announced (several times) on television by the person in question. It should be available at [1] (In the pre-title sequence, right at the top of the show) -- 67.70.35.44 (talk) 07:40, 21 November 2014 (UTC)

Chris mentioned in episode 702 of the Nerdist podcast that he recently purchased half of puny animation. This should be added to his career section.

Source: http://nerdist.com/nerdist-podcast-live-from-sdcc-with-sir-ben-kingsley-and-peter-capaldi/ Puny Amnimation: http://punyentertainment.com/ BigKidSmallAdult (talk) 17:25, 16 July 2015 (UTC)

Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format. The Career section lists his professional activities but currently contains no mention of his business transactions, therefore purchasing an animation company does not appear to be relevant to this section. Lydia Hearst. Comment Suggestion

FYI, a note you could consider adding is that Lydia's mother (and Hardwick's new mother-in-law) is the Patty Hearst. Although Lydia is linked to her own article, Patty is only lightly mentioned there, too. No statement of her notability is given. Added tidbit - the Hearst-Hardwick couple purchased a Los Angeles mansion in late 2015 for a record price. http://variety.com/2015/dirt/real-estalker/lydia-heart-buys-los-feliz-mansion-1201628104/ Thank you, Wordreader (talk) 05:01, 16 September 2016 (UTC)

What do the burrito references mean?

During a webcast or television broadcast, Hardwick frequently says something like: "Enjoy the burrito!" Does anyone know what that reference signifies (and has a source for the explanation)? I've been curious about it for a while, now. Thank you, Wordreader (talk) 04:50, 20 March 2017 (UTC)

Delete the final phrase in the last section "the very website that he has co-founded." We've made it clear that he co founded the site. It's offensive because the only purpose for this phrase is to diminish the accusations. Should they later prove false, that information itself will be included Lotsofjoy (talk) 19:35, 15 June 2018 (UTC)

In the first paragraph, Hardwick should not be listed as the former host of the AMC shows. The only statement given so far by AMC is that Talking is on hold until they further "assess the situation" as per the citation [1] given on the page. Insusurro (talk) 00:27, 17 June 2018 (UTC)

Done. I have changed the wording to “has hosted” as per WP:CRYSTAL (Wikipedia can not predict the outcome of the investigation of the allegations). Samboy (talk) 04:33, 17 June 2018 (UTC)

Original statement location

Is the full text of Hardwick's statement regarding the sexual assault allegations somewhere online we can link to? The current link is just a summary of the statement, which I can't seem to find anywhere. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 23.243.192.37 (talk) 00:41, 17 June 2018 (UTC)

This link gives the full statement. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/chris-hardwick-denies-claims-he-sexually-assaulted-chloe-dykstra-1120718 Insusurro (talk) 00:50, 17 June 2018 (UTC)

We do not include the entire statement from Nerdist; we should not include Hardwick’s entire statement; WP:NOTNEWS (this is an encyclopedia, not a dump of every story about this controversial event) and there are WP:COPYVIO issues with including the entire statement. I believe having some of his statement is appropriate; right now, with the accusations only two days old, we summarize it as a “she said this”, followed by “this happened to Chris as a result”, followed by “Chris says this”. Samboy (talk) 04:39, 17 June 2018 (UTC)

I agree with not including the whole text, but using a source that has his entire statement rather than a summary seems more complete to me. Either way, its easy enough to find the full statement on several sites. Insusurro (talk) 04:51, 17 June 2018 (UTC)

I added a reference to his entire statement. Lots of references are good, especially when something is controversial like this. Samboy (talk) 04:54, 17 June 2018 (UTC)
