Discussion[edit]

Hi, How soon will this page be reviewed. And when will I be able to remove "Record Executive" from behind Chris Hicks' name so that he comes up along with Chris Hicks the rugby player as a choice under the name "Chris Hicks" (Contentworldwide (talk) 22:06, 9 February 2010 (UTC))[reply]

  • FYI, this article has already been "proposed for deletion" (not by me, I just saw it), can you cite more sources to show mssr. hicks notability?--Milowent (talk) 06:53, 10 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Surely, I've posted a couple more how many do i need to post in order for this to NOT be deleted? (Contentworldwide (talk) 18:23, 10 February 2010 (UTC))[reply]

  • Sadly, there's no rule like that. But if you feel these sources demonstrate the subject is notable, you can go ahead and remove the "prod" (proposal for deletion) template from the article (as the box explains, more or less). Then, if an editor disagrees, they can formally nominate the article for deletion ("AfD"), which would trigger a 7 day review of the article where editors can voice their opinions, and only then will a final decision will be made.--Milowent (talk) 19:06, 10 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I've move some of the references and made them in text. These are plausible sources. Canadian Music week and Warner Music Group's (WMG) website. I also removed the "prod". Does this now appear to be wiki worthy? (Contentworldwide (talk) 16:53, 11 February 2010 (UTC)) Another Question: How can I remove (Record Executive) from Chris' name? So that he pops up in the search if I only type "Chris Hicks"? (Contentworldwide (talk) 18:35, 11 February 2010 (UTC))[reply]

  • OK, i did some digging and I personally find it a worthwhile article. I did some editing to put in in a more typical wikipedia format, putting the references in the text, and adding an article from the Atlanta paper (relying on press releases solely is rarely a good idea, we prefer "reliable sources" such as newspapers, etc.). I also created what is called a "disambiguation" page for Chris Hicks so that both this one and the rugby player are treated equally.--Milowent (talk) 18:52, 11 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Why is this person notable, and if they are notable why are we disambiguating for someone who has questionable virtues to qualify for an article?Lando09 (talk) 07:25, 12 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The person is notable because they have been the subject of significant non-trivial coverage in reliable sources. Not sure what you mean by "questionable virtues", is that rubgy player an adulterer?--Milowent (talk) 13:58, 12 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! You've helped me tremendously! (Contentworldwide (talk) 14:49, 12 February 2010 (UTC))[reply]

If I change the name of this page do "Christopher Hicks", which is his legal full name, will he still be available in the search when wiki users search for "Chris Hicks"? Also, this name change would not include the "(Record Executive)". Does this change anything or make the disambiguation pointless? (Contentworldwide (talk) 17:26, 15 February 2010 (UTC))[reply]

Comments/Chris Hicks[edit]

Copy 'n' pasted from my Talk
I am not a vandal. Based on the posted definitions, neither are my edits. Chris Hicks does not work at Def Jam. He did not enter the record (music) business at the stated time. This is truly a plea to have both factual and concise information posted to said person's page. What then, is the process to have a page protected to reflect the accurate information (based on all of my past revisions...which is simply removing all of the fluff and misinformation.
