Could someone who knows this guy well enough to change things please read the first sentence of the article. Lockergnome is a large what? 71.79.138.31 (talk) 21:11, 27 October 2008 (UTC)

Geeks Radio

Geeks Radio is not related to Chris Pirillo any longer. I'm the former Director of Programming (for Geeks Radio) and am currently a hop in his chatroom. Anyways, they are no longer related to Chris Pirillo. Just, thought I'd try to let you guys know. I'm a big fan of Wikipedia, but I don't really know how to use it, so I apologize if I've done this incorrectly. Swordofdestiny (talk) 18:48, 26 July 2009 (UTC)

Coffee

I took out the referance to coffee. When I was a guest on the Chris Prillo show I showed him this entry and he told me that he does not drink coffee any more. Jake of 8bitjoystick.com

TechTV Termination

Chris was reportedly terminated from TechTV after he had accepted a job from Microsoft to work on their Windows Longhorn project. Rather than resigning from TechTV, he began slacking and using foul language on live broadcasts, prompting the management to bring in Leo Laporte to replace him. Eventually his behavior had the desired effect; rather than accept a demotion to an off-camera position, he quit or was summarily asked to leave. See [1] There are other versions to this story, but I don't don't think they have much credibility.   Quicksilver 23:57, 5 October 2005 (UTC)

There was a previous marriage

I remember the name "Cat Pirillo."

He was married to Gretchen[2] until sometime in 2003, Chris mentioned their breakup on his blog on Dec 13 2003[3]. quack 20:04, 22 December 2006 (UTC)

91.105.97.201's Edit

It seems this person's edit removed all info about Chris Pirillo being married before. He may not like having information about his failed marriages, but it should still be included in his wikipedia page. Shame on whoever removed that. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.78.163.32 (talk) 17:48, 26 July 2009 (UTC)

Biography

Where Chris Pirillo Lives: Consider adding a citation to this site which further confirms the fact that he lives in Issaquah, WA. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 31.53.126.50 (talk) 11:54, 29 May 2013 (UTC)

The citation clearly shows that he lives in Issaquah, not Seattle. Edited for accuracy.

To be changed from
Pirillo majored in English education at the University of Northern Iowa. Chris currently lives near Seattle, Washington with his two dogs Wicket and Pixie, who are the namesakes of the bots on the http://live.pirillo.com IRC chat room.

Declined. Not covered by reliable, third-party sources, and thus not relevant to the biography. We generally do not cover or include information about activity on social networking sites unless it's been verified by an independent source as noteworthy. Steven Walling (talk) 18:18, 26 July 2009 (UTC)
Well I'm sure that Chris would be a reliable source, ask him! I asked him before I originally put it up and he said that would be ok and thanks. Well his email is chris@pirillo.com so why don't you email him. Technical08 (talk) 13:22, 28 July 2009 (UTC)
You should read Wikipedia:Reliable sources; as Steven Walling said, this most definitely does qualify. ~ Amory (usertalkcontribs) 14:24, 28 July 2009 (UTC)
Meh. So I'm not aloud to publish what really happened even though there are hundreds of people who can verify. I thought Wikipedia was the "Free Encyclopedia". Does that mean price or free to edit. As seen, Wikipedia doesn't match up to its expectations. Maybe Twitter is a third-party source, go as them for proof. http://www.flickr.com/photos/lockergnome/3762161995/ ~ Technical08 (talk) 12:11, 29 July 2009 (UTC)

Important note

At Chris Pirillo's request, information has been taken out of his article about his Divorces. He justify's this because he claims that most of the article was about his divorces. This is a completly reasonable request and I feel it should be honoured. I am however aware that this decision could be considered, "Non-wikipedia," Because of this i'd like all users to remeber the rules of the encyclopedia. ESPECIALY the 3RR. I firmly believe that we should respect this mans wishes... I also believe that any dispute over this should be settled here... NOT in edit wars... Im not signed in, but my account is mczack26, I shall have this page and the article page watched. I would also like to mention, im not trying to be high and mighty, i am however trying to encourage good practice over bad behavior

--90.197.187.148 (talk) 18:27, 27 July 2009 (UTC) (user:mczack26)

Yeah, I don't think it is really up to him to decide that. I'm sure other people in the limelight don't want their social spectrum's discussed in public. If he can post it on his blog (which probably gets more views that this page) then it is fine to be here.

59.167.208.24 (talk) 00:04, 30 September 2009 (UTC)

But the problem with the article is that it was dominated by the fact that he had split with his wife, which is jst stupid, thus it was taken out. Tbh, I don't even rember if it was me who actually took it out... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.206.74.246 (talk) 21:23, 1 October 2009 (UTC)

Since when does the subject of an article get to edit the content? They have personal blogs where they can say whatever they want. Objectivity is always the goal, and a person has a right to factual information in their article, nothing more, nothing less.Landroo (talk) 18:59, 7 October 2009 (UTC)

health problems?

"Chris is going to quit up streaming live video do to his health problems and may stop going online all together." This doesn't look true, the last part of the sentence makes it look like a troll. 72.78.174.106 (talk) 20:30, 17 August 2009 (UTC)

His blog website looks down

Right now, http://chris.pirillo.com/ returns "404 Not Found" on all pages. At least it looks that way. At least the first two pages of Google hits are missing. - Paradrop (talk) 16:00, 3 April 2011 (UTC)

Christopher Joseph Pirillo (born July 26, 1973) is the founder and maintainer of Lockergnome, which is a network of blogs, web forums, mailing lists, and online communities. He spent two years hosting the TechTV television program Call for Help, where he also hosted the first annual Call-for-Help-a-Thon. He now hosts videos on several Internet sites, including CNN, YouTube, ustream.tv, CBC and his own website.[2] Contents [hide] 1 Biography 2 Projects 3 References 4 External links Biography

Pirillo was born on July 26, 1973 in Des Moines, Iowa. He studied at the University of Northern Iowa, where he majored in English education. For a short time, he was a 7th grade English student teacher at Coke R. Stevenson Middle School in San Antonio, Texas. He currently lives in Seattle, Washington[citation needed] with his two dogs, Wicket and Pixie, after whom the bots on his IRC chat room are named.[3] Pirillo streams video of his office live and has a large community of dedicated supporters that watch his frequently recorded videos on various tech-based and non-tech-based topics. Projects

Since 2001, Pirillo has hosted Gnomedex, which is a yearly conference covering art, science, social media, blogs, and new and emerging technologies and concepts, such as Web 2.0. Gnomedex 10 was held in August 2010 in Seattle, Washington.[4] Pirillo streams video live 24/7 from his home office on Ustream, and his stream at http://live.pirillo.com is one of the more popular, with over 5,000 regular watchers.[citation needed] His streams, also broadcast on YouTube, focus on software, hardware, review, computers, iPhone applications, operating systems, gaming, and other technology-related topics and events. As of 25 March 2011, Pirillo has had over 100,000,000 views.[2] As of 22 March 2011, he reached over 180k subscribers on his YouTube channel.[5] Pirillo runs several online communities. His Lockergnome blogging network has over 100,000 members. Geeks, his Ning-based social network, has over 24,000 users.[6] Lockergnome began as a technology mailing list in 1996, offering tricks and tips for operating systems and applications, software suggestions (with an emphasis on public domain and shareware software), and web site recommendations.[7] Several mailing lists are now provided, offering technology Advice and Tips[8] and other content syndicated from Lockergnome's blogs and web forums, including IT Professionals[9] and problem solvers.[10] Pirillo's advocacy of new technology went as far as setting up, with Jake Ludington, a BitTorrent server at vistatorrent.com "to help Microsoft get [Windows Vista] Beta 2 in users' hands" in 2003.[11] According to Information Week, Microsoft had "reported problems in delivering Beta 2 electronically ... recommending on its own Web site that users order the DVD rather than download the 3.5-4.4GB file".[11] Microsoft sent a cease and desist e-mail, and the pair complied.[11][12] Chris Pirillo owned twitter at one time. Pirillo is the author of several books, including Poor Richard's E-mail Publishing, Online! The Book with John C. Dvorak and Wendy Taylor, and several ebooks.[13][14] In January 2010, he began hosting "Help Desk with Chris Pirillo", a weekly live video call-in show on Microsoft's Channel 9 web site.[15] The show is at the pilot stage. Since early 2011, Pirillo has been one of the featured "CoolHotNot Tech Xperts," along with John C. Dvorak, Jim Louderback, Dave Graveline, Robin Raskin, Dave Whittle, Steve Bass, and Cheryl Currid. At CoolHotNot's web site, he shares his "Loved List" of favorite consumer tech products, along with a "Wanted List" and a "Letdown List".[16]

Net worth

Where's this 'net worth' figure coming from? I can't find it on the page which is listed as the source. And even then, socialblade.com seems to be nothing more than a (fairly basic) calculation of YouTube advertise revenue. 109.201.154.185 (talk) 18:56, 14 May 2014 (UTC)
