July 10 Change[edit]

There was apparently a major rewrite of the Christendom College page on July 10, 2006. The old information did seem to be highly POV. The new information looks good, although more comparative information would be good. Also, while I have not checked this, some of the text may be plagiarized from promotional materials from the college, especially in the "Student Life" section. -Dane

Was Lord Acton's writings on Index?

Don't know; wouldn't surprise me. His social views were flagrantly contradictory to several encyclicals, from Mirari Vos to Quadragesimo Anno, not to mention Thomistic thinking in general. But this probably isn't the proper forum.

Bozell's Influence?[edit]

The article makes a great deal of emphasis on Bozell Jr. and Triumph in the "History" section. The only justification for this mention is a obituary given by Dr. Warren Carroll for the conservative thinker. Did Bozell really have that much influence on the founding of the college?

According to the history page at christendom.edu, most everyone involved in the founding, Carroll himself, faculty, donors, and so on, met while working under or participating in activities under the auspices of Bozell's Society of the Christian Commonwealth. --Sephiroth9611 (talk) 01:26, 3 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Adding of Section on Sexual Assault[edit]

Hey fellow editors,

Why does a section on sexual assault keep getting added? The issue is highly disputed and falls way under wikipedia’s Objectivity standards. Seems like an attack by a disgruntled alumnus to me.   • I'm glad that you now recognize that communication on the talk page is the proper way to address article issues. Disruptively removing content and hiding behind multiple accounts does not work. When the block has expired, please come back and explain your concerns. As it stands, the content looks to be properly included in the article. There are reliable sources addressing the the issue, and the college has publicly admitted there are problems.--Mojo Hand (talk) 14:14, 19 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Current student here (yes, this Wikipedia account was created today, although I had a now-defunct one under an alias some years ago.) I don't think there's any dispute at this point that at least the first story is real, and of course the college has indeed made an official statement followed by coverage in local news sources, so I support its inclusion here. The wording around Title IX was incorrect (none of the referenced official statements mention Title IX, only the CNA article does, so I rephrased that statement to more accurately reflect the way the source presents it. And it looks like the visual editor's "publish changes" dialog has a strange control-flow around saving, so that edit has no summary... sorry, getting back into the hang of things here.)
    For reference: There is a significant amount of controversy in alumni circles and on campus about the events and how the college handled them (with a significant cohort stating that the college did nothing wrong and should not change its policies), although I think it's quite clear by now that the administration has admitted changes are needed and will be made.

New dubious edit by FlyPeterPan87[edit]

User:FlyPeterPan87 has just made a very large, rather dubious edit. Some of its changes look OK, but others don't. Note specifically the difference to the "Sexual violence scandal" section that they attempted to delete before: selective word choice in the description of the allegations, removal of "sexual violence" in favor of "harassment", and deletion of the call for the resignation of Dr. O'Donnell (which I note is in the subtitle of the cited article, as well as in other sources), and deletion of the final sentence of the section on protests. I'm hesitant to completely revert the edit, but I'm not sure what the best course of action about the dubious content is (seeing as I am obviously also biased on this topic.) About recent edit[edit]

AugustinCavalier, not sure why you feel the edit is dubious. I agree the bit about the resignation should have been left in (I didn't realize it was in that article. I hadn't read that one previously, and thought it was just alumni gossip. The counterpoint of the Change.org petition showing all the alumni who feel differently should probably be included then, too), but the rest was an attempt to get the wikipedia page up to date and in line with other college wikipedia pages. Ok, but you didn't take them. On the image licensing it says you're the copyright holder and in the image summaries that you took the photos in 2009 and 2016. If you don't know who took the photos (regardless if Christendom said you can use them), we need permission from the author.
