No consensus to move. Vegaswikian (talk) 18:17, 7 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Christina VukicevicChristina Vukićević I think we should move article to her native name Christina Vukićević. The same situation is with other sportpersons who are competing for country where their origin is not (Jelena Dokić, Zlatan Ibrahimović, Bojan Krkić, Nikola Karabatić, Csaba Szilágyi, Aleks Marić...). Vukićević compete under the Norwegian flag, but he has a Serbian or Yugoslavian orgin. Christina is Norwegian first name, but Vukićević is her native last name. For Sasha Vujačić we use most known nickname and Serbian last name. --Aca Srbin (talk) 13:58, 31 Augusy 2011 (CEST)

  • Oppose, the diacritics belonging to the country the sportsperson belongs to, should be used. I could name examples where that guideline is being followed, but will refrain from it, lest we get requested moves on those as well, he he. Geschichte (talk) 19:24, 31 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment, But her last name is Vukićević! With diacritic as her last name is Serbian. I cited examples where we use native names for sportpersons who are competing for country where their origin is not.--Aca Srbin (talk) 21:58, 31 Augusy 2011 (CEST)
  • Oppose. No diacritic in this name as it is given by BBC and Irish Times. (No, she doesn't get a diacritic in Norwegian either.[1]) Kauffner (talk) 01:54, 1 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment, Reliable sources in English never used a diacritice, but for articles we still using native names (Nemanja Vidić: Goal.com, Jelena Janković: WTA,Ana Ivanović: WTA...).--Aca Srbin (talk) 11:50, 1 September 2011 (CEST)
    • Cool that, but she is a Norwegian native. Geschichte (talk) 12:51, 1 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
But she has and Serbian orgin. His father is Serbian or Yugoslavian and his name is Petar Vukićević. How is it possible that the surname of her father is diferent? Vukićević is her native last name.--Aca Srbin (talk) 21:18, 1 September 2011 (CEST)
Why wouldn't it be possible that her father's name is spelled differently if he is not a Norwegian native like she is? Timbouctou (talk) 21:04, 1 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. The article indicates that she is born in Norway, which I think means that spelling rules from whichever countries her ancestors come from do not apply unless the person explicitly chooses to use them. I have never seen the diacritics in use in her name, not even in the public tax lists (I assume there is only one person by that name born that year in Norway), and it would be strange if they contained anything but the official name. There is also no rule that one's surname must be the same as one's father. Ters (talk) 20:05, 1 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support. [2] This surname is Serbian (because her father is Serb and Ljubica is Serbian name) and originally it is Vukićević. I think we should respect her origin, ethnic and last name on native language.--Aca Srbin (talk) 22:25, 1 September 2011 (CEST)
    • You can't support your own proposal. Also the votestacking, which you have been doing this afternoon, is not encouraged. Doing so continuously may result in being blocked. Geschichte (talk) 21:21, 1 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose - spelling rules of the country she represents in sports should take precedent over whatever the spelling is used by her parents in their native language. Vidić, Janković and Ivanović all represent Serbia internationally. Guys like Ibrahimović and Krkić are really rare exceptions (and in their cases the spelling with diacritics is evidently in use by reliable sources printed in their sporting nation's language, unlike here). Timbouctou (talk) 21:16, 1 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose - per argument used at Alex Bogdanovic. Her Serbian name is likely Kristina and so it would appear her name has been transcribed with a decision to keep the lettering arrangement of her surname. Evlekis (Евлекис) (argue) 22:41, 1 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
    • She is Norwegian and Norwegian name is Christina (Ljubica is Serbian). Her father is Peter Vukićević. She inherited the family name and it could not be changed.--Aca Srbin (talk) 00:53, 2 September 2011 (CEST)
  • Oppose very uncommon to use the diacritics, and also a Norwegian native, where the diacritics are not used. Arsenikk (talk) 18:27, 5 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
