Please note: This article is a mirror of List of early-modern women playwrights (England, Wales, and Great Britain), except that the authors are listed chronologically, not alphabetically. If you add an author to this page, could you please add them to List of early-modern women playwrights (England, Wales, and Great Britain) as well? Thanks!

New lists[edit]

Originally, List of early-modern women playwrights (England, Wales, and Great Britain) was organized chronologically. But as it grew, it became unwieldy. Also, it was difficult to search for individuals unless you knew their dates, so while it was useful for those interested in the development of the theatre, it was also limited. In addition, there are two sister lists, List of early-modern women novelists (England, Wales, and Great Britain) (also new!) and List of early-modern women poets (England, Wales, and Great Britain), both of which are organized alphabetically. So, I reordered List of early-modern women playwrights (England, Wales, and Great Britain) alphabetically as well, and created this new page for the original, chronological list. I hope that meets with the approval of all those who have been working so hard on these lists! — scribblingwoman 16:10, 13 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestion to retire this article[edit]

Hello, all editors interested in early theatre! For a history of this list, read the topic above. As long as both lists were fairly static it seemed reasonable to have two, but today I have been adding names to the alphabetical list and plan to continue, so I think that it is time to retire the chronological list rather than attempt to keep it current. I will leave this message here for awhile and see if it generates any discussion. If not, I will remove the linkages between the two and propose this for deletion.— scribblingwoman 22:42, 13 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
