Animals[edit]

Were there actually monkeys in the Brisbane Botanic Gardens? I can't find any info on it... - Jo

There used to be monkeys, and other animals, in a zoo within the Brisbane City Botanic Gardens, but that was a long time ago.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Jo... Yes there were monkeys at the Brisbane Botanic Gardens. We used to feed them after church in the late 1950's. The cage/s were just inside the Albert St gates on the right hand side. First thing you saw when you went in from this gate. Hope this helps. Kirk G ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Plzz someone help!!!!!!!!!! -Jacqui

Established by the government, the area was originally used as a garden area for the growing of crops to feed the penal colony. Nearly three decades later, the site was made into a Botanic Reserve, with scientific research being carried out on native plants. Also, agricultural experiments were carried out in the gardens to develop introduced plants into commercial crops. Figaro 04:44, 17 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
