Bradney[edit]

Ghmyrtle - The Bradney quotes are hilarious. The Monmouthshire gentry were very obviously not amused! KJP1 (talk) 11:41, 13 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Cadw[edit]

I have mailed Cadw to raise their scandalous neglect of Cleddon in their listing records. How many birthplaces of Nobel Prize-winning philosophers does Wales have?! KJP1 (talk) 21:10, 13 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Well, Henry Jones, born in Llangernyw, did get a knighthood, and was made Companion of Honour. But that's not quite the same thing. Martinevans123 (talk) 21:16, 13 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Martin - It’s a great start, although a horrible embedded url, and we have a whole new party game of finding other extant buildings where Welsh Nobel Prize-winning philosophers were born. Or just Welsh Nobel Prize winners. Why do I think only you, I, Ghmyrtle and Verbcatcher will play! KJP1 (talk) 21:27, 13 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, I think it could be a quick game. And you appear to be one of them! List of Welsh Nobel laureates. KJP1 (talk) 21:34, 13 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I can't deny it. I also played cricket for the Royal Navy. But since when has Stroud been in Wales?? Martinevans123 (talk) 21:44, 13 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
That struck me as odd. There’s nothing in the article that suggests he is Welsh, but it must be parentage. KJP1 (talk) 21:47, 13 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Oh dear. I see a big 8' 10" can of worms being opened... Martinevans123 (talk) 21:52, 13 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Brian Josephson was brought up at 26 Earl's Court Road in Penylan, Cardiff,[1] which merits a blue plaque. (I have personal connection as I lived in Earl's Court Road as an infant.) It seems likely that Josephson was born in a Cardiff hospital. Verbcatcher (talk) 23:22, 13 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the info. The only Welshman to have won a Nobel Prize in Physics. I see he also then moved on to other interests. Martinevans123 (talk) 14:44, 15 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
