Ideology[edit]

There has been some discussion about the ideology of this very party due a Wolfram Nordleck reference, where this party is referenced as "regionalist" and "eco-socialist". The main issue is the arbitrariety of the term: it's non-precise, in the source is used a little bit oddly (for instance, Basque Nationalist Party and Geroa Bai -this second party quite similar to Compromís- are stated as "separatist" while governing Catalan party CiU/CDC are stated like "regionalist". In the other hand, BNG is also refered as "regionalist", while their main allies (ERC and EA/Aralar, now Amaiur) are listed as separatist. We should Notice that BNG declared that their main goal was independence in their last congress. I don't believe that Compromís is separatist (it's not, their are less separatist than "regionalist" CiU) but the truth is that all the parties mentioned here are catalanist/abertzales/valencianist etc... and differences between "separatism" or "regionalism" is sometimes blurry. It's not the case of Compromís, but they are not a "classical regionalist party" like FAC or former Unió Valenciana. I believe that the use of Nordleck here is not a good idea because it's not very precise in the definition (it's an aproximation for a non-spanish reader) while the term "valencianism" is more precise to illustrate the (grey, not black or white) ideology of all Those parties in this issue. My main idea is that separatist/regionalist is a too precise definition to use for parties whose politics are in the middle (or shiffing) between those positions. We should also consider that it's generally accepted in Spain (bibliography in catalan/spanish can be apported from :ca and :es wikis) that BLOC Nacionalista Valencià, precedessor and actual member of Compromís is "Valencian nationalism" representant, while the "valencian regionalist" was represented by the rival (both electoral and political Unió Valenciana, conservative and anti-catalanist.--Coentor (talk) 19:08, 14 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
