Unbalanced[edit]

  • What is a Colombian British?

1. by citizenship (dual nationality) 2. Ancestors (heritage) either British or Colombian

Any other?

I think there must be a balance.. there are Colombian British in Colombia too.. who have dual nationality or their ancestors were British so, I'll change the world wide view tag for unbalanced.--F3rn4nd0 (Roger - Out) 19:59, 31 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If I'm not mistaken, dual citizenship is indicated via a hyphen (in English; it may be different in Spanish), as in "British-Colombian". This article's title has no hyphen, so one might argue it's not just about dual citizens, probably. SamEV 05:42, 2 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I was trying to make the point that the article focused just on Colombian people living in Britain.. LIVING, I didn't know that tourists and temporary workers were granted the British denotation!!!!!!!!??? maybe I should go to Britain and visit so that I become American British..?? doesn't make any sense. the order of the factors does alter the product, it doesn't matter if British or Colombian is first.. these are together to mean one thing!! --Zer0~Gravity (Roger - Out) 02:35, 28 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

These terms and labels typically include both citizens and non-citizens who reside in the country. SamEV (talk) 01:17, 29 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Balanced[edit]

This article contains information on bith Britons of Colombian decent and dual citizenship. I have added a sentence to talk about Britons in Colombia, but until another article is made, with the possible title Britons in Colombia, this shall remian the same as Colombians in the UK are a much larger and significant community than Britons in Colombia. As is the case of such articles as British Iraqi and British Japanese to name a couple. This is also the reason for removal of the unbalanced template. Population figures[edit]

I've changed the population figures used in this article. For an explanation, please see the Latin American Britons talk page. Cordless Larry (talk) 18:09, 18 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sources[edit]

Where are these sources coming from? I am Colombian and I visited London and I can tell you there aren't 200000 Colombians. Need to update the sources on this. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.225.144.56 (talk) 04:43, 21 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. I live near London, and visit frequently. There are not that many Latin Americans in this country as a whole. The source is not reliable, and does not meet wikipedian standards. I am removing this. User:King of Lewes —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.72.111.87 (talk) 19:23, 1 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

British Cenus[edit]

According to the 2001 Census there are 75000 South Americans in Britian, so how is there an estimate of 200000 Colombians in Britain? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.225.144.56 (talk) 04:45, 21 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The estimate is from an online article and is apparently a "guesstimate". The Census only counts people by country of birth, so it is possible that the number of Colombians is higher if you consider British-born people of Colombian origin to be Colombian, but I agree that 130,000-160,000 (I don't see where it says 200,000) is unlikely. See the discussion here. Cordless Larry (talk) 12:36, 21 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Off-topic material[edit]

The immigration section of the article includes statistics on visitors (such as tourists) to the UK from Colombia. These people are not immigrants and I suggest that this material be removed. Cordless Larry (talk) 18:42, 5 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed that the tourist statistics etc were a bit irrelevant, i've removed that section. Stevvvv4444 (talk) 19:02, 25 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
