Copyright questions[edit]

If you are the person who originally posted this article, I hope you'll comment here. At least part of the article you posted appears to infringe on the copyright of the school's web site. If the school is releasing that content under the GFDL, please indicate so here. If not, I encourage you to rewrite the article so that none of it infrignes on copyright. We're always glad to have contributions here, and I hope you'll keep contributing knowledge, but we have to be very careful about copyright law so that we don't violate anyone else's rights. I hope you understand: thanks! Jwrosenzweig 23:27, 30 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The school has given permission for use of the information found at http://www.columbushighga.org Charrelson 23:34, 30 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Great! Where did they publish that? Is the web site marked as being in the public domain? (I can't find such a notice). Jwrosenzweig 23:35, 30 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

UPDATE: Charrelson, who's been very polite about the whole thing, is having the school drop a note giving permission to use text from its website to wikimedia. As a result, I'm dropping the copyvio template. Anyone with further questions is free to ask me. Jwrosenzweig 23:48, 30 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:CHSseal.gif[edit]

Image:CHSseal.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Notable Graduates[edit]

Scott Cameron Riley, American Spiritual Guide - what the heck is a Spiritual Guide? Franklin Alai Wu, American Visionary - what does a visionary do? Nick Monzy Martin, American Gladiator - Really? George P. Burdell, American philanthropist - notable for being rich and giving money?

Isn't American in front of these all very redundant? WesUGAdawg (talk) 04:04, 16 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

"In 1944, Harper Lee graduated from Monroe County High School in Monroeville." Hence, not a CHS graduate. WesUGAdawg (talk) 03:10, 5 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
