This basic outline of this article was taken directly from comparison of Linux distributions. I'm wondering if it would make sense to move to a single table with a column per distro. With Linux it doesn't make sense, but here we only have a handful (currently 5). Does anybody have a preference either way? ⇔ ChristTrekker 17:42, 22 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It makes sense, but one can actually wonder whether or not this page is still relevant. There are only three distributions listed, OpenIndiana being the only active one. Although we could add SmartOS, NexentaStor and maybe Dyson. --Xiloynaha (talk) 21:45, 21 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I decided this page was still relevant, as there are some other distributions based on illumos. I just added OmniOS. I deleted the “Live media” section, as it didn't seem relevant and was probably outdated. I don't think the “default file system” criteria is relevant either, basically every OS here is going to default on ZFS. The “Package management” table could probably be simplified as well (do we really need the number of source packages?). --Xiloynaha (talk) 02:16, 22 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Another good ressource is https://wiki.illumos.org/display/illumos/Distributions
I reorganized the tables and I think it's a good compromise now. Merging all the tables together would likely be harder to read. --Xiloynaha (talk) 16:04, 22 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
