This Article Should Not Be a List[edit]

Right now, this basically serves as a list article with poor structure and coverage. Properly maintaining a list of these is not feasible since there are far too many challenges to cover. I think it would be better to structure this article as a narrative of the origin/history of these competitions and what they contribute to the field. Certain competitions are certainly worth mentioning, but we should be mindful of the policies surrounding undue weight when listing.

I'm happy to have a go at restructuring this if there are no objections

I'm not opposed to including lists within categories of particularly noteworthy competitions (e.g. the DARPA challenges or the Netflix Prize -- so yes, the blue linked ones). My issue is with for example the Pittsburgh Brain Activity Interpretation Competition which is referenced only by a link to the competition homepage. There are thousands of competitions held each year that meet the same standard of notability. Neheller (talk) 20:38, 2 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thoughts on "Prizes" in this context[edit]

Obviously the prizes of the competitions are fair game to discuss here, but I don't think the Rumelhart Prize for example belongs in this article. The List of computer science awards is probably a better place for something like that. To prevent this in the future, maybe "Artificial Intelligence Competitions" is a better name for the article. @Neheller: You are right. Would you mind cutting these kind of awards/prizes?
