Romanian Actors[edit]

What about the Romanian actors? Shouldn't they be listed on this page as well? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.116.39.140 (talk) 00:42, 18 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

They are. The cast section lists both the American and Romanian actor for every character. Scapler (talk) 16:03, 18 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

This is totally wrong! Totally.[edit]

Whoever wrote this entry is so incompetent...sorry, but that's it. Comrade Detective is the English translation of the name of a Romanian detective series. It has been remastered and dubbed by...DUBBED BY Channing Tatum, Joseph Gordon Levitt, Kim Basinger etc. It is NOT a takeoff on anything. Go look at it on Amazon and for the love of all that's holy try to get some information on a subject before you write up an entry. Zlama (talk) 06:13, 3 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

This is part of the marketing and schtick of the show, but it is in reality a newly-filmed show presented as an old Romanian one. This is clearly stated in almost every single source cited in the article.
For example, the Vanity Fair piece cited in the article states, "The initial idea, Gatewood says, was to take actual Communist propaganda and dub it with English dialogue—like a TV version of Woody Allen’s What’s Up, Tiger Lily? When obtaining the rights to Cold War-era television proved difficult, they decided to film their own faux propaganda, complete with a strong ’80s aesthetic." It doesn't get much more clear than that. Bearsona (talk) 18:58, 3 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I guess it depends on the source of the description. But does it seem realistic that the Romanian film institute would remaster the original so that a U.S. film group could make fun of them? Seriously? And judging from the members of the group responsible for the project, I doubt that such a thing was in their minds. Zlama (talk) 06:09, 9 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
You're still misunderstanding. Nothing was remastered; none of the footage was old. Every single minute of Comrade Detective is brand new footage shot recently. And no, it doesn't depend on the source. ALL of the sources outside of the fictitious Amazon marketing, every single one, back this up. Bearsona (talk) 06:55, 9 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
