I don't think this should be merged with "consent" Condonation is a legal term of art that has an independant meaning (particularly in divorce law) despite the words being synonyms.

Honor killings[edit]

The principle of condonation or near-equivalents can shield those who commit honor killings from punishment:[1]

"Nearly 1,000 women are murdered in Pakistan each year for violating conservative norms on love and marriage. The so-called "honour killings" are often carried out by family members. Such killings are considered murder. But Sharia in Pakistan allows a murder victim's family to pardon the killer, which often allows those convicted of honour killings to escape punishment."
