Lithography[edit]

The phrasing of "A lithograph of a painting popular in the Reconstruction-South, Henry Mosler's "Lost Cause", which typified the devastation Northern invaders inflicted upon Southern homesteads, was placed on the front of the monument. Different reliefs are on other sides of the monument" concerns me, as it implies that the lithograph was an original part ofthe monument. However, if the monument was erected in 1876, and lithography was invented in 1890, then it's not a lithograph, or it's not original. Has anyone got any thoughts on this? My history specialty is U.S History prior to 1877, so I'm not totally up on the history of lithographs. Maybe it was an early form of lithograph, before they were called as such.--Bedford 18:15, 25 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
