Title not in English[edit]

Contournement means "bypass"; "Nîmes-Montpellier high-speed rail line" also redirects here. -- Beland (talk) 16:52, 1 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, found this in an HTML comment in the article:
comment on nomenclature: Translating this directly into English would give a name not used by available sources, which is practically OR. Even the english-language Railway Gazette uses a French name for this infrastructure; for the time being we should use that name, per WP:COMMON
Fine with me; I put an English translation of the name in the intro just FYI. -- Beland (talk) 17:01, 1 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The Wikipedia article naming guidelines say we should follow English usage (eg "covering the programme for construction of the planned Contournement Nîmes - Montpellier bypass line" [1]), not that we must avoid terms of foreign origin. The article refers to TGV, LGV Méditerranée, LGV Perpignan–Figueres, TER (Transport express régional) and Déclaration d'utilité publique which are also terms which are used (in context) in English but are "not in English". (How long before someone comes along to insist that the new station at Manduel-Redessan is called "Nîmes Central" station?!) Wheeltapper (talk) 17:11, 1 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
