Tom says: This page has no where near enough information! who came up wih the idea? When? When was it first published, in what journal? How has it been recived criticaly in the geographical community? How is it used today and by who? Is it just used in Western Cities, or is it employed by cities world wide? Is it outdated or is the information to scant to be used by a government? Can somone please respond to this? 26/3/08

Hi Tom, if I am not mistaken the Core frame model has been developed and first published in:
  • Edgar Horwood and Ronald Byle (1959) Studies of the CBD and Urban Freeway Development. University of Washington Press, Seattle.
In the geographical commity the original model is an important milestone in the development of model-based geography, still mentioned in publications now fifty years later. The model is used as a meta-model to analyse and assess the (historical) processes of growth and change in cities central area's.
