Untitled[edit]

Hi! I put together the page on Cornelius L. Reid today. The information which I used was provided to me by Donna Reid, wife of the late Cornelius L. Reid. She knows that I am putting together a page on Cornelius L. Reid and is in complete agreement that I use the texts, some of which are also on her own web pages. Please do not erase this article! Many thanks, Edmund Brownless Ebrownless (talk) 19:11, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have written to Donna Reid and will get her written permission very soon to use any of the texts which I have used! Thanks, Ebrownless (talk) 19:17, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Note that not just permission to *use* is required, but permission to release under the GFDL. Release under the GFDL is necessary as Wikipedia is by policy required to be able to also be used by anyone else. This means that text once released under the GFDL can be used by anyone, for any purpose, as long as the requirements of the GFDL are met. And those are mostly about attribution. They could be used for commercial purposes, for instance, and that would be allowed byt the GFDL as long as they were properly attributed. The consequences of this release must be understood by the person releasing the material under the GFDL.
If the GFDL release is approved, then specific steps will need to be taken to verify the approval. And they will generally need to be taken by the owner of the original wensite from which the material originated, rather than by you.
I'm going to go ahead and delete the page for now. Until/unless the GFDL release can be approved and verified, this stuff cannot remain here on the project. - TexasAndroid (talk) 19:43, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

POV[edit]

Very nice article Ebrownless! However, you are running into some "Point of View" problems. I'm sure Mr. Reid was amazing and his critics were all wrong about him, but you cannot write an article on Wikipedia that does not fairly show both sides. I'm going to go ahead and flag the article until the problem is fixed. If you change some of your wording to make the article sound more neutral, you should have no problems. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Pitchperfect (talkcontribs) 07:51, 24 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I beg to disagree! I have re-read the article several times and have removed one word which could be perhaps considered as POV. I took great care when writing the article to use many quotes about the life and work of CLR. These are not my personal opinions...they are the opinions of many different specialists in the world of singing: some were connected to CLR, others were not, eg. reviews of books, etc. I cannot change the wording of any of these quotes! Please show me which of my own sentences contain too much POV! Many thanks! --Ebrownless (talk) 08:41, 24 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
