History[edit]

It's pathetic how the english version copy from the French without cheking. Cornetto is NOT French and certainly it's not inspired from a French pastry that came a century after! 82.52.156.64 (talk) 16:51, 6 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Kipferl[edit]

Hi Silverleaf81, I think there is a confusion with the names: cornetto was first used in Italy to call the austrian kipferl (brioche dough). Nowadays, cornetto refers to a croissant (laminated puff pastry).

The main difference between kipferl and croissant is that kipferl are not made with puff pastry. It is explained in the reference I have provided. Cornetto and kpfler[edit]

According to the Oxford companion to food, cited in the article. Cornetto is the Italian name of the Kipferl introduced in Italy when Venice was part of Austria.
