Members

I was there yesterday with my grandparents and a current member, and was able to read some of the names on the wall who have won the Cosmos Award (usually 1 per year, however I saw some that a few were awarded in the same year). Some of the members I remember seeing were Helen Hayes, Sandra Day O'Connor, Henry Kissinger, Herbert Block, William H. Taft, Nelson Rockefeller, and Woodrow Wilson. Unfortunately, there were so many names that I was being bombarded with, I cannot remember any more members. I can tell you they have a specific room set aside for members who have won the Pulitzer, and a special wall for Nobel Prize winners, and on the 2nd floor of the mansion there is a corner called "Presidents Corner" where the 4 Presidents who were members are highlighted. They are not called "Presidents" however within the club, but as their profession outside of their office. -- Jimmy —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 205.143.204.206 (talk) 13:19, 7 February 2007 (UTC).

My revision was removed, but I added it back. --Jimmy

I removed WP:Food. This is really not significant to the article. Rublamb (talk) 04:05, 31 August 2022 (UTC)

Club functions

The frequent lectures and dinners are quite remarkable. Members and invited guests speak on an eclectic variety of fascinating topics, such as applied astronomy, the economics of war (Ray Miller), intentional mnemonic systems for the educationally privileged (by my father), the balance of bigotry in social development, etc. As a relatively pedestrian intellect, I find the perspective, insight & thought of many of the members invigorating. They have seeded in me, some exciting ideas, and prompted and encouraged me to several exciting projects over the years. I might mention that the sexist & racist policies of the past, seemed to be a reflection of the upbringing of the spiritually less fortunate members of long ago. They are no longer policy, and generally viewed as a poor substitute for careful, intellectual and moral discrimination. The Club is also a very friendly, comfortable & relatively inexpensive place to stay during my trips (even better when a talk or dinner can coincide). Occasionally, a senior member will reside at the Club.

Members List

It might be time to change the members list to a list article so that we can provide documentation for each member. There is potential for this list to be much larger. There are more than 3,000 members--and by the very nature of the club, most are going to be notable. Thoughts.Rublamb (talk) 21:37, 5 April 2022 (UTC)

Hearing not objections--and knowing that I added many names to the list--I went ahead and moved it to List of Cosmos Club members. I am currently matching the sources to the people as the majority of the citations were in a general list, rather than being inline within the list. My plan is to add field of notability and probably divide in the groups. Anyone is free to help with the project or to add to the list of members. Rublamb (talk) 21:08, 15 October 2022 (UTC)
