Neutrality debate[edit]

Somebody challenged the neutrality of this article however they did not bother on saying why, so...I guess I'll answer to what "I think" they are objecting to.

I think that the paragraphs stating what went on in the game is much more useful than just the results.

We all know the score, but in time people will forget the emotion, the points of view and the back-and-forth of the game.

Wikipedia gives the world an oportunity to record these details, that are normally lost in a dictionary or encyclopedia.

Exp.

France 1998

Final Brazil 0 - 3 France

...That may be enough, but you leave out that, all bets were on Brazil, that Zidane after recieving a red card in the first game and being almost unseen in the Cup, came to become Frances hero by scoring the first two goals, also that both goals were headers, one even going under Roberto Carlos legs, also that Ronaldo was expected to be the hero but he was under so much pressure that the day of the game he had some convulsions, and finally that Petit made the last goal in a great dash against defenders...See! All that would be lost if we just limited ourselves to 3-0!

I think that I am fair with both teams, and don't put down the opponent. It is also a "Costa Rica" page, and I would imagine that if the same thing existed on a Sweden, Scotland or Brazil page, it would go along the same lines, though it could be seen though other eyes.

I think it's a valuable addition and if others, that know thier football history well, would do the same to thier own soccer teams pages, we could have a very complete archive of games, and not just the scores...Manuzel 04:44, 6 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Performance in 2006 World Cup[edit]

Maybe the section on the performance in 2006 World Cup, with its match-bay-match description, is too much. I would like to discuss it in Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football/National teams.--Panairjdde 17:26, 13 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Team Colors[edit]

The uniform is obviously wrong. Not only the first one should be red, they have never used that gray/black variation shown in the wikipedia. Thanks.

Of course it´s wrong. It was right before, somebody just messed with the colors. We just need someone to put it back in order--Manuzel 12:09, 11 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

the only Central American team to win at least one World Cup game.[edit]

No way. Romania was defeated by Cuba in 1938 World Cup. Link: http://fifa.com/worldcup/archive/edition=5/results/matches/match=1157/report.html Digodf 23:51, 12 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Gethomas3 and Digodf, please Assume good faith and stop with the insults. As for the answer, the Caribbean can be part of Central America depending in what country someone lives so sop calling people dumbasses. Azuran 02:20, 25 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi I also question this "fact": "Costa Rica was the first (and so far the only) Central American football team to win a game at a FIFA World Cup tournament." The Wiki page for Mexico at the World Cup says Mexico beat Czechoslovakia 3-1 in 1962, and also won games at WC 1970 and 1986. Costa Rica didn't qualify for a World Cup until 1990. Mexico is surely Central America?

So how do you guys like what i did to the page?[edit]

cool huh? No — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.130.54.236 (talk) 06:26, 22 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Players abroad table ordered alphabetically[edit]

I just took the time to order the Players Abroad table alphabetically to list the players by their last name. Previously the players were listed by their position on the field but I think this way it's easier to read thru the names and find the player that interests you. If anyone feels any different and doesn't like the new list order feel free to revert to the old version.--190.10.76.226 (talk) 20:47, 18 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Date update[edit]

Can someone update the players statistics to the game vs. El Salvador of 1st April 2009?

It has to be updated even the data relative to the player with N°3 jersey, Josè Fernandez according to FIFA official Match Report.

Thanks

Gold Cup results[edit]

... are missing. Instead, the Copa Centroamericana, much less important, is shown.--Severino (talk) 18:47, 5 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Why are they called "Los Ticos"?[edit]

I noticed that the reason for the nickname "Los Ticos" for this team is given nowhere in this article. I'd suggest that it would be good if someone could add something on that... --IJBall (talk) 20:23, 5 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Biggest win and First International[edit]

So their biggest win and their first match are on the same day, something about that doesn't seem right — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kalejade (talkcontribs) 21:04, 19 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

And if you read the information it's evidently not a mistake...Correctron (talk) 03:59, 4 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Scratch that. The first is legit. Going to go look for the other one. Correctron (talk) 04:00, 4 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Hawaiifive0 changed it July 2, 2014. No one touched it. That biggest win is apparently a lie. Correctron (talk) 04:13, 4 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi[edit]

I would suggest that pureto Rico flag is wrong pls change it...... it is in biggest victory side 37.231.92.79 (talk) 18:01, 23 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The flag used is correct. The Puerto Rico national team used the United States flag until the adoption of the current flag in 1952. Jalen Folf (talk) 21:32, 2 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
