Odd meaning for the word "paved"?[edit]

What does the word "paved" mean in this context?

"An alternate meaning for this term exists in southern Louisiana where it identifies a large, paved channel for water runoff."

Are coulee and gulch the same?[edit]

The coulee and gulch articles appear very similar in description and in some regards to origin. Does anyone know if they are indeed the same, or are there notable differences? If they are more-or-less the same, then they should probably be merged. Likewise, if they are different, then this should be clear in one or both articles. The word "coulee" is very much a matter of local usage. One could argue that the article Arroyo should be subsumed under this suggestion. A coulee is a coulee, as locally defined.
