Council of Paris[edit]

"A selection of members from each arrondissement council form the Council of Paris (Conseil de Paris), the body which elects the mayor of Paris."

It is still not made clear in this sentence where the Council of Paris is elected of appointed. How are the members chosen for the Council of Paris from the arrondissement councils? Do the arrondissement councils elect from among themselves who gets to go to the Council of Paris? --Criticalthinker (talk) 10:15, 10 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Anyone? --Criticalthinker (talk) 05:30, 24 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Does no one know the answer to this? How are members of the arrondissement councils chosen for/elected to the city council? --Criticalthinker (talk) 08:04, 20 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Numeral style confusion[edit]

I am very doubtful that it is good practice to identify the first 9 arrondissements English-style (1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc...), then to identify the eleventh and greater with Roman numerals plus a french suffix (XIe, XIIe, XIIIe, etc...) and to do the tenth with both styles.

I'll note that other Wikipedia articles on this subject (Municipal arrondissements of France) use the English style entirely.

Since this is an article in English for English readers would not English practice be appropriate? --23.119.205.88 (talk) 17:45, 19 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Council composition and election[edit]

I'm going to try this one more time...

This page needs more clarification. As it reads currently, it sounds like the Council of Paris is directly elected. There needs to be a subsection named something to the effect of "Elections and Composition" to explain exactly how the Council of Paris is elected from the arrondissement councils, because it's not clear. It's going to take more than a passing paragraph to do it. Which arrondissement councillers are then chosen for the Council of Paris, and how is this decided? I can not be the only one reading this talk page. --Criticalthinker (talk) 11:03, 30 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The Council of Paris is directly elected. I agree that more information on this topic could be included in the article, but of course this is Wikipedia, and one should not rely on this website for accurate information. The answer to your question can be found in Article L272-5 of the French election law. You can also read this page. Tridek Sep (talk) 22:40, 12 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think it'd be too much to add such a subsection to clarify elections of this council. As I'm not a native French speaker, if you could add a short paragraph or so describing the election of this council (particularly concerning the question I asked concerning the composition of the council suing the arrondissement councillers), that would be great. --Criticalthinker (talk) 08:46, 13 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Update template[edit]

List of council members is still sitting on 2008-2014, with no indication of who has served on the council since 2014. Bearcat (talk) 22:54, 1 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Fixed in edit https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Council_of_Paris&oldid=880841738Newystats (talk) 20:39, 29 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Fixed? In the title of the list it is said: "Councillors elected for the 2008–2014 term", but the list itself is about the councillors "Councillors elected in the 2014 Paris municipal election.". I think this is a contradiction. --Kerchemer (talk) 23:31, 4 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
