height discussion[edit]

i've seen the back and forth of reversions to this page surrounding his height. while two of the sources included do say 193cm, his bio on the FIFA database does say 180cm[1], in addition to other biographical sites. just google "craig goodwin 180cm" and you can see the list of sources. while i know edits from the subject of the article are frowned upon and it appears that Craiggoodwin16 has an attitude, who's to say that one biographical source is more correct than others? therefore, 193cm can't be argued as "right" when there's different reports online. thoughts? CanoeUnlined (talk) 00:21, 10 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@CanoeUnlined: It's fine for him to tell us what his height is, but we need something other than his word to verify it. 331dot (talk) 00:25, 10 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
i understand that. that's why i linked to this source. my point is, there are different numbers on different sources, so how do we know what's actually right? the source i link to does confirm 180cm, but other sources say 193cm, which is why i'm posing the question. i agree that while his mention of his height did guide my research, that alone doesn't count for a change in the article. CanoeUnlined (talk) 00:28, 10 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I would be of the opinion that FIFA plus confirmation by him would be sufficient. It's the highest authority in the sport. 331dot (talk) 00:37, 10 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
great, thank you for your input. i'll make the change to the article. CanoeUnlined (talk) 00:41, 10 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
You seem to be conflating FIFA, the video game series, with FIFA, the world governing body of association football. Futhead is a website that mirrors the data on the video games. I do not see how it is a more reliable source than the official website of Football Federation Australia or Soccerway, which is used on many articles for statistical information. I removed his height entirely but was reverted. It is clearly disputed, and I don't think it should be included in the article until we can get clarification. This source notes the discrepancy in what different sites say. Looking at Google Images, I would say it's pretty clear that he's not 193cm. Cordless Larry (talk) 13:36, 11 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

For example, see this. Goodwin is fourth from the right in the middle row. Cordless Larry (talk) 13:38, 11 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Agree with Cordless Larry we should wait until we can get clarification. If you look at this image shared by the subject on his Instagram he can be seen standing next to Kenneth Dougall (1.82m) and Nick Proschwitz who is 1.92m and as pointed out by CanoeUnlined above his bio on the FIFA database does say 180cm. I've just noticed that the height on his Eurosport profile has been changed from 193cm to 180cm. Cordless Larry (talk) 07:50, 15 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
