Sorry, I'm french and very interested by all kinds of megalith. And there is a big difference between a cromlech and a dolmen. A dolmen is supposed to be closed. In fact, it's the name given to the stones building (burial) you find under the mound of dirt of a tumulus. As far as the cromlech is concerned, it's all about a circle made out of erected stones separated from each other. It seems to have been a place for religious celebrations. <unsigned comment by 62.212.119.130>

That's what we are saying - dolmens are chamber tombs and cromlechs are stone circles in France. The term cromlech is also used in Welsh for a 'dolmen' though. That is why this is a disambiguation page. adamsan 20:17, 1 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"Altar-tomb"[edit]
