Renaming of article[edit]

Hi, Marcus. You recently renamed this article from "Cultural Medallion" to "Cultural Medallion Award". Is there any government website that you can point to which confirms that "Cultural Medallion Award" is the official name for this award? — Cheers, JackLee talk 14:02, 12 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jack, I have been reading quite a bit on artists lately, and it came upon me that the full phrase "Cultural Medallion award" was cited in every article that i've come across in the Straits Times. Thus I thought it'd be more appropriate if we can incorporate that in the name of the article. -- Marcuslim (talk) 02:05, 13 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, but simply because the newspapers use the term doesn't mean it's the official name. I agree that the Cultural Medallion is a type of award, but the official name seems to be simply "Cultural Medallion", not "Cultural Medallion award": see the web page http://www.nac.gov.sg/awa/cm_nom_guidelines.asp from the National Art Council's website. I would suggest that you move the article back to "Cultural Medallion" (you will need to ask an administrator to help you, to preserve the revision history). — Cheers, JackLee talk 04:36, 13 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You have a point. Perhaps this award name can be used as a Redirect, instead of its official name. Will revert the name back to the original. Cheers -- Marcuslim (talk) 01:59, 14 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Looks like an administrator has already fixed this issue. — Cheers, JackLee talk 10:16, 14 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
