Overall, this is a good article, though I have a couple concerns:

  • "In 1932, Byrd was promoted to vice president of the university.[1] In July 1935, he was named acting president of the university.[1] Byrd was officially appointed president in February 1936" This could probably be combined into one or two sentence; would make for better flow I think.
  • "until the former coach interceded to restore order." by former coach, do you mean Bryant or Byrd here? Slightly confusing.
  • Green tickY Ah, I didn't even think of that when I wrote it, but you are right, both were former coaches at that time. I meant Bryant. Clarified. Strikehold (talk) 04:17, 20 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • "Tatum and asked Cross to refute Tatum's role," huh? perhaps that meant to say 'had asked'. Plus, the second Tatum can just say his.
  • "Byrd had Maryland accept the bowl bid, despite coach Tatum's disagreement. Tatum felt the sanctions, which prevented Maryland from playing any Southern Conference games the following season, were too harsh." So Tatum disagreed with allowing the bowl bid, yet found the sanctions harsh? Sounds like he would be the one in support of the bowl game then, or am I misreading?
  • Green tickY Tatum did not want to accept the bowl because it would make his schedule much harder (almost all road games), and he didn't think it was worth it. (They knew the Southern Conference would suspend them from conference games for the season if they accepted). Byrd wanted to accept the bowl bid anyway, and his opinion carried the day. • "Byrd was also a businessman" maybe I'm nitpicking, but I'm sure we can think of a better sentence to start the section.
  • Green tickY I tried rewording it a bit. Let me know if that's better or if you have a catchier starting sentence. Strikehold (talk) 04:17, 20 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'll place the article on hold and will pass it when the issues are fixed. Wizardman Operation Big Bear 03:45, 20 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, I attempted to make changes where you expressed concerns, and believe the article is now ready for a second look. Please let me know if that addressed your concerns or not, and if you think any further changes should be made. Thanks! Strikehold (talk) 04:17, 20 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Everything looks good now, so I'll pass the article as a GA. Wizardman Operation Big Bear 15:26, 20 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
