Deletion, cleanup and restoration of this article

Cleanup

I am aware of the AfD and deletion history on this article. Give me a day to try and improve this article. Thanks! Hiberniantears (talk) 21:25, 28 November 2009 (UTC)

Regarding speedy deletion

(1) To be clear- this article is not derivative of the article at http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php/What_is_CyanogenMod -- rather, any similarity to content on WP is due to a months-old WP article from here being used there. That should alleviate any licensing concern. (2) In the weeks following the deletion of the article, a new controversy regarding Cyanogen created substantial media coverage when Google sent a C&D letter to Cyanogen's lead developer. As the article body cites specifically, this action generated significant 3rd-party attention, discussion, and editorializing, which further established CyanogenMod's profile and notability. Such attention is ongoing. (3) Finally, I do want to point out that similar, poorer-sourced articles lacking the kind of widespread notice CyanogenMod has received continue to exist on WP, many of which are in the same WP:categories as this article. The notability of these topics have gone unchallenged. That those articles remain on WP strongly suggests that community-based firmware distributions are in fact encyclopedic and appropriate for WP's readership. Note this is not a WP:OTHERSTUFF argument. I am arguing for the merits of THIS article, but am further requesting an appeal to common sense. Look at other articles for a sense of the threshhold for notibility. If you disagree, I am requesting more than WP:JNN --Replysixty (talk) 10:21, 29 November 2009 (UTC)

Just to clarify further; I restored to article from a deleted state yesterday. The restore action doesn't show in the editing history. Good work in cleaning up the article following my restore. Hiberniantears (talk) 23:26, 29 November 2009 (UTC)

Impressive

For a page deleted so frequently, I'm really impressed by how this page has grown and developed since I restored it a few days back. This was a small experiment on my part to look into our role as admins in preventing the development of the encyclopedia by engaging in an admin echo chamber on things like deleted articles or blocked users. I am inspired to spend some time sifting through my deletion log for articles that may be good candidates for restoration. Hiberniantears (talk) 04:48, 4 December 2009 (UTC)

Well, we CyanogenMod users and contributors to the article appreciate the opportunity you gave us to produce a respectable article about a unique and valuable software experiment. I'm happy to repay the favor by contributing to other articles you care about that you wish to see restored. Klondike (talk) 07:39, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
I'm not sure if this is the correct use of the talk page, but this has sudden;y grown into a very useful page, which I had previously expected to be deleted, but luckily wasn't. Ms.henrick (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 08:59, 12 June 2010 (UTC).

RfD : Please keep the page around.

It is a great resource and reference for one of the fastest growing mods available for Android / G1 and other phones.

Please keep the page around!  :) Thanks -IainD 71.217.1.51 (talk) 11:52, 7 December 2009 (UTC)

Google cooperation

Resolved
 – The article no longer claims that Google as a company is working with Cyanogen.

Clarifying the "citation needed" re: Google working with Cyanogen. I see the reference to some Google employees working with him, but this is distinct from Google the company formally agreeing to do so; I don't see a source for the latter. ChrisBoyle (talk) 22:52, 2 December 2009 (UTC)
