Jury vote claims[edit]

I noticed that my removal of the jury voting information had been reverted [1]. I'm not sure I understand. We came to a very clear conclusion that Eurovisionfun was not a reliable source. @IvanScrooge98: claimed they were only unreliable for non-Greek news, though that was not stated anywhere in the discussion and in fact one of their non-facts included in the list of examples of poor journalism was related to Cyprus. Now if this voting claim were actually notable in and of itself, there would likely be non-Eurovisionfun refs that could easily replace the ones in the article, however, I haven't been able to find many news outlets that have run with this story. It's very clear to me that it is because there is no story here. Eurovisionfun once again ran with a ckickbait "inside information" piece and is trying to make a big deal about something. As is evident in the reply from ERT [2], it's somewhat embarrassing for Ef because fixing the score really isn't possible. Outside of Ef being reliable or not, if there was a story here, we would need multiple independent and varied refs to properly document it and in general WP:RUMORs don't have a place in the article. Are we documenting something that happened or something that someone said could happen? Only the former is appropriate by Wikipedia's guidelines as far as I can tell. Given that the Eurovisionfun source cites a Greek newspaper for the original story, are we able to find that original article? I would highly concur however that this really does just stink of a rumour with very little actual substance behind it, essentially your standard click-bait trash as has become more and more common with Eurovisionfun. I know this is a separate conversation, but I would support blacklisting Eurovisionfun from our articles entirely given their recent appalling track record with atrocious reliability. The point is ERT and CyBC have addressed the issue and Eurovisionfun seems to be the only outlet reporting on this. If the broadcasters had simply ignored the reports/rumors, I wouldn’t have included anything about this story to begin with. ~ IvanScrooge98 (talk) 12:51, 15 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes but it's also a reply from ERT that only Eurovisionfun seems to be posting. Again, if this story were any way meaningful then surely it would be reported elsewhere? Otherwise it's just various Eurovisionfun articles all talking about other Eurovisionfun articles. I just get a sense reading this that it's not a very reliable site, and I wouldn't be surprised if they were just making up quotes from individuals as clickbait. I think it is obvious that a Greek-language fansite is the first to pick up on a Greece–Cyprus dispute. I’ll try to look for further sources and limit Eurovisionfun, but still sensationalism is one thing and completely making stuff up is another. ~ IvanScrooge98 (talk) 14:11, 15 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ok that is understandable. Looking at the changes and developments since this afternoon, it does still strike me as more rumour than anything, and some kinda sensationalist clickbait that may have been made up, maybe not by Eurovisionfun but by someone else perhaps. I understand that given ERT and CyBC commented on it perhaps it is worthy of inclusion now, but it's important not to assign undue weight going forward. No doubt on that, especially if the question resolves to nothing. ~ IvanScrooge98 (talk) 20:56, 15 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
