The spelling here should be Ó Chonaill.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Donnchadh (talkcontribs)

On what basis, Donnchadh? I don't know what (if any) fluency in Irish you have, but male surnames do not aspirate (take a "h"). That's elementary. --Damac 13:48, 3 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

For what it's worth, Republican literature used the spelling without the "h". He tended to use O'Connell, rather than the Irish form.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.166.6.153 (talkcontribs)

Alternative name?[edit]

I know that Dáithí Ó Conaill was occasionally known as "David O'Connell", but could he also be the "David McConnell" who stood in Belfast East for SF in 1964? Warofdreams talk 12:47, 7 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Cause of death[edit]

Dáithí Ó Conaill died at 52-53 - presumably not of natural causes. Should the article say what his cause of death was? 94.6.182.172 (talk) 15:00, 14 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

He died of alcoholism. (81.136.23.227 (talk) 10:25, 10 June 2017 (UTC))[reply]

'Activity' or not[edit]

"During the late 1960s, Ó Conaill played little part in the activities of the IRA or Sinn Féin... ...He was active in the IRA through the 1960s" I think this ought to be clarified. Harfarhs (talk) 18:13, 21 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
