The claim that the events of the Council of Ephesus led to the formation of the Assyrian Church of the East is absolutely untrue. That church arose seven years earlier, in 424, when a council (probably at Seleucia-Ctesiphon) forbade appeals to Greek bishops, implicitly making itself autocephalous. The independence of the Assyrian Church was about Persian politics, not Greek theology. - BALawrence (talk) 19:30, 13 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
