New[edit]

I'm new at creating pages on wiki. If there are things that you are not happy with, please be patient. I will be waiting help and learning to be accurate to create page for this tourist attraction town. ps. leaving home for couple of weeks soon.

I have never been to Dalyan or anywhere else in Turkey for that matter but agree this page needs work. Will do some research and try to help out the best I can. — Preceding unsigned comment added by David Worrell Jr (talkcontribs) 21:39, 22 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Topics to be added this page[edit]

  • Caunos
  • Rock Tombs
  • Mud Baths
  • Sultaniye Thermal Baths

etc..

Sorry, but your remark is not dated nor signed. I changed a number of items, because they are incorrect:

  • Economy: cotton. Cotton used to be grown intensively, has over the past 5-6 years been replaced by easy-to-keep and profitable pomegranate. It's only this year (2011) that some fields have been planted with cotton again.
  • You state that there are hardly any casualties among the turtles. You're absolutely wrong there! Both Nile turtles and loggerhead sea turtles are injured or killed by irresponsible boat captain manoeuvres and fishermen. Sometimes out of ignorance, sometimes from indifference and sometimes on purpose (shooting, hitting them with metal poles, etc.) DEKAMER sea turtle centre shows the sorry results.
  • The "other" turtles in the delta are partly Nile turtles (only for depositing eggs), partly loggerheads. Both are fed. The loggerhead turtles are fed by crab fishers and boat captains, leading to shell and flipper injuries. The Nile turtles are fed with chicken skin, which they can't digest. This happens in Dalyan itself and further upriver near the small mud baths. The Kaptan June Sea Turtle Conservation Foundation is currently negotiating with the Authority for Special Protection Areas and the Governor of Mugla to forbid this practice and enforce this legislation.
  • David Bellamy did play a role in the protests against developing Iztuzu Beach and is still a good friend of Kaptan June. His role, however, was minor to that of June Haimoff, Nergis Yazgan, Guenther Peter, Lily Venizeleos and Keith Corbett.

A number of items you want to add already occur in the article about the Köyceğiz-Dalyan Special Protection Area. Have a look there. All the best, Kjf webmaster (talk) 11:01, 21 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

What use is the map?

The map is titled "Location of Dalyan within Turkey" but doesn't show the location of the city. This is a common Wiki problem unfortunately. StephenJPC (talk) 10:26, 10 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
