A quick note about Russian names[edit]

As we know, Andrei Lipov and Suisie Lipova are married. Notice that their surnames are spelt differently. In russian all female surnames end with "a" and male with a "o" this is nor a mistake, please don't anybody try and correct it. Whilst Susie may not be russian by birth, she is married to a russian and therefore by taking on her partners surname it is "Lipanova" for her and "lipanov" for him. Please try and remember this, if you get it wrong you make it harder for people interested in the couple to search for them. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.64.57.241 (talk) 04:07, 4 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Reviews!?[edit]

I was going to get rid of the reviews but Xxnick got there before me. Thanks, but Wikipedia is not a forum!

2007 British television phone-in scandal[edit]

Should there be a section about the current phone-in scandal? If so, where sould it go? yettie0711 22:11, 23 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Don't know where it should go, but I agree that it should be included.--Snowgrouse 08:20, 30 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Required elements[edit]

I've just added a bit about these. Why has there been no mention that required elements even exist until now? It would be good if we could have a list of all of them. I've found the following for the 2007 series: [1]

  1. ???
  2. spiral
  3. one-footed spin
  4. assisted jump
  5. shadow sequence
  6. any one of three of Torvill and Dean's classic moves: the train, a backwards step sequence or an underarm rotation
  7. prop
  8. (semi-final) unique move
  9. (final) flying

How can we incorporate this info into the article? -- Smjg 21:44, 15 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

My only suggestion would be to split each season of Dancing on Ice onto its own page. Although the articles would probably be small. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Enero778 (talkcontribs) 19:58, 28 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Arlene Phillips leaving Strictly Come Dancing?[edit]

Messages have been going around on the BBC Strictly Come Dancing Forums that Arlene Phillips is leaving this year.

The claim is not sourced.

However, looking on the Wiki page for "Dancing On Ice," it appears that Arlene is going to be a judge on Ice Dancing! Does this mean she has left the BBC to go to ITV?

This claim is also unsourced.

I appreciate that this page is not a forum, but can somebody please help me, and look for sources for either of these claims?

I guarantee that, true or not, the rumour on the BBC forum will spread to Wiki soon.

Could others, therefore, keep a check and "watch" key pages such as Arlene Phillips and this one?

"Despite still airing its third series, Dancing on Ice will return in 2009 for another run."[edit]

The two clauses seem completely unrelated to me. So in what way is the second clause "despite" the first? -- Smjg (talk) 13:37, 15 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Dancing On Ice Series 3:[edit]

Notes.

What are you trying to say? -- Smjg (talk) 00:53, 16 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Gay Gareth Gates[edit]

Surely this is irrelevent to Dancing on Ice, and it's also unsourced anyway. If a source can confirm it, mention it on the Gareth Gates article. Digifiend (talk) 10:05, 12 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Top 5 weekly shows[edit]

Bugs Bunny? Daffy Duck? Postman the Pat? Last time I looked they were cartoons, not dancing celebrities. Someone needs to revert this obvious piece of vandalism. I would, but I don't know how.Fiddle and herman (talk) 20:43, 25 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Series 5 start date[edit]

Please leave the start date blank or saying January 2010 until it has been confirmed because it keeps changing. Thanks. MSalmon (talk) 22:10, 27 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Series 5 "Avarage chart"???[edit]

Do we really need an avarage chart. We havent had one of these for previous series. This page is starting to get cluttered. Maby series 5 needs a new page for its self?

Or this "Highest and lowest scoring performances in each week" table. Its getting very cluttered. --83.105.97.218 (talk) 23:38, 17 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Series 4 article[edit]

Why do you need a seperate article for Series 4 when the information is already on the main DOI page? MSalmon (talk) 11:35, 13 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Series 1 2 3 had one, maby series 4 ifo should be taken off this page? --Waysidor (talk) 00:51, 14 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

More information[edit]

Could we list the reception/ratings for the show, also more about the guest performers and song performed?--Cooly123 22:52, 19 February 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Cooly123 (talkcontribs)

Seperation is needed[edit]

For series 1 and 5 we have seperate pages, yet for seasons 2,3,4 we do not. The main article page is way too long. If the pages are updated and seperate like seasons 1 and 5 the flow of the page would be better. The main article listing should be more like the summary pages of other reality shows (the x factor, strictly come dancing etc...).--Cooly123 01:06, 3 November 2010 (UTC)

I have made it slightly shorter by removing duplicate information for those which have seperate articles, but more is needed to shorten the whole article --MSalmon (talk) 22:56, 29 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hi, is the new logo for the 2011 series going to be added because I don't know how to do it? --MSalmon (talk) 11:22, 20 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

 Done -- [[ axg ◉ talk ]] 11:32, 20 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, added a caption aswell --MSalmon (talk) 11:33, 20 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox[edit]

Like with The X Factor UK, Britain's Got Talent, Australia's Got Talent etc, it looks better having the active people first in chronological order, then the inactive people in chronological order afterwards. At the moment, it looks like a big mess.JackJackUK (talk) 11:26, 3 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It should go in decending order of years (so Louie and Katarina should be at the bottom and Jason at the top because he was there since the start)--MSalmon (talk) 11:28, 3 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It looks stupid? Just like with The X Factor UK, it should go in chronological order based on who's active and who's inactive. The oldest active at the top to the newest, then underneath the inactive starting with the oldest. People should see who's associated with the show currently, first, not later on.JackJackUK (talk) 11:30, 3 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Karen Barber IS returning as a judge[edit]

I don't get why my changes are constantly being reverted. The source clearly states:

"And the Pineapple Dance Studios star will be joined by another new face on the panel in the form of figure skating legend Katarina Witt - with Karen Barber and head judge Robin Cousins filling the other two seats."

http://www.mtv.co.uk/news/dancing-on-ice/339381-dancing-on-ice-louie-spence

so yes she IS returning as a judge.JackJackUK (talk) 12:17, 4 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Have you looked on the official website yet, I don't see anything about Barber returning as a judge. --MSalmon (talk) 12:18, 4 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

In the information bar on the main page it states that Karen Barber is no longer a judge. It looks as if she is no longer part of the show, I believe that their should be and piece of information somewhere on the box that states from 2010 onwards she is the head coach !!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Thealex1996 (talkcontribs) 02:49, 30 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Head Coach doesn't show up on the infobox so I can't really do anything about that. --MSalmon (talk) 09:34, 30 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Coleen Nolan[edit]

Not sure why she's in the presented by section as she is NOT a main presenter. She was a stand-in for one show in 2011, and that's mentioned in the main article anyway. JackJackUK (talk) 23:13, 4 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Judges Scoring Statistics[edit]

Do we really need a list of judges scoring statistics, perhaps a paragraph or two would be enough? --MSalmon (talk) 13:33, 20 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Use of (present) in infobox[edit]

I have changed the word (present) to (since) because I think it is a better word to use as present is rather self-explanitory, if someone has (2012-present) then the word present isn't needed as it already has the date and dash. --MSalmon (talk) 18:55, 28 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I have reverted this because it is not needed. The way it was has been fine and there is no need for change –Howabout90– 20:52, 28 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I was just suggesting an alternative, as things can change --MSalmon (talk) 21:04, 28 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Weekly individual judges scores[edit]

Hi, does anybody have the weekly judges scores and running orders for Series 1-4? --MSalmon (talk) 14:39, 14 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Split and/or condense article?[edit]

This main article is too long with too many contestant names and statistics. What shall we do with excessive content? --George Ho (talk) 06:02, 24 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. All series have their own articles, so there's no need to repeat all the information. The series overview table links to each series and states the winners. Additionally, the professionals table links all the celebrities and summarises the results (although this is done with colour so perhaps symbols should be added as well). So I would suggest completely removing the series section, as it's not actually needed. –anemoneprojectors– 11:26, 24 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Series 2 doesn't have it's own article unless one is created --MSalmon (talk) 12:17, 24 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I missed that one, because I looked at a few and then looked at the navigation template and saw entries for them all, assuming that all entries in the template would have articles. It should be created. –anemoneprojectors– 12:52, 24 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

LWT - Original Creator[edit]

http://www.itnsource.com/en/shotlist//ITVProgs/2006/01/15/9C27857B/?s=Dancing+on+ice+2006&st=2&pn

ITN Source lists the original copyright holder as LWT for Episode 0001 Series 1 of Dancing on Ice. Other episodes list the production company as London Weekend Television. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.192.241.209 (talk) 23:19, 12 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Navigation templates[edit]

As we now know that the 2014 series will be the last, can we merge all the individual series navigation templates into the main Template:Dancing on Ice - considering that it now won't be a huge infinite list of series but just nine, so won't take up too much space? In fact I've already done it in my userspace, so nobody would need to do any work. (I originally posted this to Template talk:Dancing on Ice#Merge? on 28 October.) –anemoneprojectors– 16:07, 6 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Any Comments? Thoughts? Suggestions? Objections? Insults?! –anemoneprojectors– 13:40, 30 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
May be you could give a link to your merged version so we can see what it looks like. Keith D (talk) 21:11, 30 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Sure - User:AnemoneProjectors/Template:Dancing on Ice. –anemoneprojectors– 13:54, 4 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Alternatively, we could merge the templates with each other but not with the main one, and have one template for all the celebrities, a bit like Template:The X Factor (UK) contestants. I've added an example of that to the same page in my userspace. –anemoneprojectors– 09:20, 5 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I've now added series 9 to my examples. I think the 2nd one is a good idea. –anemoneprojectors– 09:55, 11 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I went ahead and did the template for all the celebrities. –anemoneprojectors– 15:49, 17 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Series 10[edit]

ThisIsDanny (talk | contribs) keeps complaining at how I am informing the public of the official lineup for Series 10, and he keeps saying that ITV haven't even confirmed Series 10 yet. Should we remove the Series 10 section until ITV announce it or should we keep it, along with the OFFICIAL line up? Pug05 (talk) 12:54, 24 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

ITV have not confirmed the series return - yes it's very likely. I have removed the source saying it's returning because the source actually says it "could be returning" and doesn't state that it will be. As for the line-up, all past series aren't usually revealed until close to the series beginning - so if they series hasn't even been confirmed by the channel yet how can it be confirmed by a tabloid? The sun is not very reliable, but if you believe it is then it can stay. ThisIsDanny (talk) 13:16, 24 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Caprice[edit]

@Superdry19:@Annamargarita0: @JorWat: Caprice Bourret was just known as Caprice on the show, like she has been on other shows such as The Jump and Celebs on the Farm. ‘Caprice’ is on the series 12 page but not on the main page. Could this be changed. 2A01:4C8:C1E:4DEC:9C92:C08:EB8:E4AA (talk) 00:04, 3 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The concept for DOI[edit]

I'd just like to add that it was Torvill and Dean together with ITV that developed the concept and how the show would work and proceed. Thank you Christopher Dean 2601:281:C500:CDB0:BCFA:9997:F656:3131 (talk) 22:49, 24 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
