The article says that the pairings would be announced later this week, yet they're already up. Has the information been leaked, or is this just a form of vandalism? TYPE O On the Dancing with the Stars (U.S. Season 8) home page under Night 1 running order it has Gilles paired with Kym. Gilles is actually paired with two time champion Cheryl Burke. Pairs have come out now...Take off protection??[edit]

The only vandalism that was happening before it got protected was people were pairing up the stars with pros without verification. Well, the OFFICIAL pairs have been announced, and I want to fix it but I'm not an "established" registered user. In this video http://www.etonline.com/news/2009/03/71378/index.html we can see Steve-O and Lacey dancing the waltz and they refer the dance as Waltz (what makes us think about slow waltz danced on season 1 to 4), but the article says that the dance is the Viennese Waltz, so the doubt keeps on. They also talk about Salsa dance, so it'd be possible that the couple that executes the standard dance on first night, don't do a ballroom latin as second dance, but Salsa. (Personally, I think Salsa will replace Mambo, because this two dances are very similar.) This way who do the (Viennese?) Waltz on first night will do the Salsa on second as who cha-cha-cha on season premiere will quickstep next day. (02:30, 5 March 2009 (UTC))

Superlatives?[edit]

Lengthened Competition[edit]

I have a sense that this year season the competition will be expanded to twelve weeks. Just think. This season this year no one goes home the first week. And then there's sixteen dances to learn and a Freestyle. And I know they could have double eliminations but I have a feeling that ABC would have announced that. They might have announced the expanded competition, but did they announce it for seasons two and three. Also by this theory three couples would dance in week 12, which sounds like something they would do. And if you don't take this idea than take these. They're definetly not going to dances in one week this year. Do you really think that on apremiere night they would make them do twenty-six dances?! Also why can't non-members edit this too? Actually, when talking about the new season of The Bachelorette, they said it would premiere on May 18, the night of the last DWTS performance show. This says that this season will be 11 weeks. How do we know when the first elimination is?[edit]

Okay, I've never actually seen proof that they're not eliminating anyone until Week 2. Because I know that this season is 11 weeks, so they'd either have to do a double elimination to have the first elimination be Week 2, or that info is wrong. Can someone help? Is Woz's Week 3 score notable?[edit]

After checking the previous seasons, Woz and Karina's score of 10 is the second lowest in show history. Only Master_P and Ashly_DelGrosso's Paso Doble in Week 2 of Season 2 was given a lower score, an 8. Should this be noted in the article? Rascalb (talk) 01:51, 24 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Life is a Highway[edit]

I know that the most recent version of the song is likely the most popular at the moment (ie Rascal Flatts), but Life is a Highway should be listed as a Tom Cochrane song I would think --RedKnight (talk) 21:46, 24 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Cochrane did indeed write the song and had the original version, but ABC lists it as being the Rascal Flatts version that was performed (even though they are nearly identical). Call-Out Order Chart[edit]

I recognize that every US season since the fifth has included a call-out order chart. But does such a chart add anything at all to the article? Tom Bergeron almost always explicitly states that the stars are called out "in no particular order," with the obvious exception that one of the bottom two will be called last. Unlike, say, Top Model, where the order in which women are called reflects the judges' ranking of their pictures that week, the order in which the stars are called out is totally meaningless. I do not think the chart provides any information that is not already available in other charts within the article. I just kind of like having it, even if it's not adding anything to the page. I'm an analytical person, so I like seeing the order for each week to see if there really is a pattern in the "not in any particular order". Someone reverted my edit a couple of days later, so I deleted it again. Per our discussion here last month, such a chart adds no information. Boyz II Men medley[edit]

Since Boyz II Men performed a medley of Motown hits, plus their own song, shouldn't the songs be listed as one row, separated by slashes? None of the three songs were sung completely, so keeping them separate can be misleading, IMO. Pages for previous seasons keep them separate, but I feel that those are probably "merge" worthy too, especially if they were medleys. Order of Elimination[edit]

Is there a reason why the table of couples specifies only which couples are still participating and not "Eliminated 1st," etc. for the eliminated couples (who remain in the correct order, just without that notation)? I noticed at least one edit to restore those notations was undone. Scoring Chart[edit]

I am proposing splitting the team section into 2 columns. A subsection would be labeled Celebrity and the other would be labeled Professional. Here is an example.
