Suspected vandalism[edit]

I have just reverted to the edit by AkhtaBot at 11:03, 17 June 2008. There have been a hell of a lot of edits today, and not all edits have been reverted. I will put in a request for page protection. Please can someone who knows about the article verify what the correct information should be? StephenBuxton (talk) 16:21, 17 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There is a defenate that guiza alongside his spanish manager aragones will join fenerbahce in the 2008 season. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jeyhun1 (talkcontribs) 17:48, 19 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nothing more than a rumour, same as the Guiza joining Arsenal rumour--ClubOranjeTalk 01:56, 25 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Information should be removed until any official citation presented —Preceding unsigned comment added by Philophobia (talkcontribs) 11:07, 8 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Celebration[edit]

I'm pretty sure his celebration comes from Mexican player Cuauhtemoc Blanco. Or it could be a coincidence. Is there a way to put that in his page? Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kobelino (talkcontribs) 23:43, 26 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It's a coincidence. The celebration is a tribute to Kiko Narvaez, also born in Jerez and was his professor in a football school on Jerez. The figure was used by Kiko Narvaez in the nineties and represents an archer before pulling an arrow. --Mao Zaluchi (talk) 17:14, 27 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Possible additons[edit]

Well, the page is locked anyway but I hink this should be added:

  • The goal against Russia was possible because Güiza fooled the Russian goalkeeper kicking the ball with the right ankle and sending the ball in the opposite direction. Otherwise Akinfeev would probably stop it.
  • He is sometimes called "Gitano" (Gipsy) though he isn't of Gipsy background. I don't know if this is just a popular nickname or if it is used also by the sports press, though (I've not followed him before the Euro 08).--Menah the Great (talk) 14:41, 28 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

he does have a gypsy background or they would not call him that to a white spaniard that would be an insult--Wikiscribe (talk) 00:50, 18 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fenerbahce[edit]

4(1) New news. I just watched Fox Soccer Report the other day. It said that Guiza is following Aragones to Fenerbahce. Would someone mention that in the article? Radical3 (talk) 04:02, 8 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Several places have now confirmed he is joining Fenerbahce. Vincent Valentine 19:21, 8 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fenerbahce announced on their official website that they paid mallorca 14 million euro's for guiza, not 17 million. Can someone fix this up? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.12.22.55 (talk) 02:02, 12 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

In the infobox it says 2 goals in 2 matches:

1. If this is only league matches (which I think it should be/is for all others), then it's not possible cause the league hasn't begun yet.

2. If this is about all competitive matches, then it's also impossible, cause right now, as I'm writing this, they play their first competitive match of the season in the Champions League Qualification. UmutK (talk) 19:32, 30 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Roma descent[edit]

I know it explains his dark looks but I can't find info to back this claim up

Personal Info Section[edit]

I think it could be added that Dani Güiza has been married previously to Rocío Aranda, the mother of his five years old son, Cristian. (http://www.elsemanaldigital.com/articulos.asp?idarticulo=85581 in Spanish)

Removing Romani statement as unreliable[edit]

The source does not category state Dani Guiza is Romani. Its not even about Guiza. It is a conversation with someone who mentions a very dodgy article written by a Romani guy claiming a bunch of people are Romani (people who we know are not Romani such as Cantona). Please careful with sourcing before making such baseless assertions. There is no known source where he is known to identify as Gitano or mention that anyone in his family is Gitano. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Php2000 (talkcontribs) 01:13, 3 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

As far as I can tell it does state that. While the article as a whole is not specifically about Güiza and does mention a book, the relevant part is in the author's (Rob Hughes') voice: "Del Bosque will ponder it. There is an opportunity to add Navas to the squad now that Villa has dropped out. Navas would, incidentally, be the second Gypsy in the camp, joining the Fenerbahce forward Daniel Güiza." Robby.is.on (talk) 22:22, 3 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah problem is that he is not gypsy. Rob Hughes must have got confused. Unless we find a reliable Spanish source we are dealing with another ignorant confused foreign journalist. 88.18.163.39 (talk) 15:32, 23 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
To mention, the confusion stems from "gitano" being his nickname in his youth. This may explain Hughes' sentence. No actual person of Gitano ethnicity would be called "gitano" as a nickname in Spain. It would be offensive and racist. 88.18.163.39 (talk) 15:37, 23 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Good of you to acknowledge the article does state it after claiming otherwise in your edit summary. I've added a Spanish source. Robby.is.on (talk) 15:43, 23 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
