Lee Dennison

Can anyone confirm the statement that Danny is dating Lee Dennison? The link provided no confirmation of that fact at all, and Lee Dennison is actually a male and the article gives no indication of bisexuality. McDanger 09:04, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

Yex I can confirm. There was also an article in a recent Attitude and Gay Times which confirmed this from both parties. I will update soon with the relevant quote and reference. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.176.133.116 (talkcontribs)
Well it stays off until you can back it up. Otherwise it's an un-sourced statement and Wikipedia can be held liable. McDanger 14:43, 8 April 2007 (UTC)
Fine I will source the relevant evidence and resubmit then i have as you say BACKED IT UP. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.176.133.116 (talkcontribs)
For the record eveidence was also given on Lees own site (since removed)and is currebtly showing on Dannys own web site.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.176.133.116 (talkcontribs)
If there's a reference to it, then add it along with the reference, but this site can't have unsubstantiated claims like bisexuality (as much as we'd like it!) without some proof. Wikipedia was actually sued over allegations made on a person's page. McDanger 12:34, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

Good grief its well known fact that Danny is dating Lee Dennison not to mention ne is quoted in Attitude as saying it- if I post a link to the interview would that sufice(212.22.3.8 (talk) 13:11, 17 April 2008 (UTC))

If you can provide a proper reference to this, that will suffice. Until then, the information will be removed. ~~ [Jam][talk] 10:04, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
The link was there to an outside website which clearly states this. Its pointless trying to say provide reliable source when this is a relaiable source - this has also been confirmed through dannys own webs site so if you want I can also add a link to that after the one already mentioned. (212.22.3.8 (talk) 13:15, 22 May 2008 (UTC))
Please find a reliable source - such as BBC News or Digital Spy - which supports this. I can't find such a reference, so it should not be here. ~~ [Jam][talk] 16:30, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
Don't listen to that guy from 212.22.3.8. i think he is lee dennison himself. he written in about 7 or 7 other articles that 'lee denninson is dating so and so' it's pathetic. i reported him before, but not sure if i did it correctly - if someone else would that'd be great since he keeps doing it on multiple articles. blahblax (talk) 23:32, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
Thank you, I have been accused of vandalism by that "editor" because I kept trying to remove that ridiculous claim. People, please refer to WP:BIO for wiki strict, clear guidelines that govern biographies. I know Dyer is a gay icon but geez, that doesn't make it true!! Sue Wallace (talk) 11:41, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

Chairam of Greenwich Borough?

If, as the article says, false claims purporting that Dyer had become chairman of GBFC were made, why does it then say he was "confirmed" as chairman, and the GBFC page say that he is the chairman? Is he or is he no chairman of GBFC? '''The Mage Slayer''' (talk) 20:16, 26 May 2008 (UTC)

Officially he's the chairman, but he doesn't actually do anything, he doesn't actually run the club he was just made chairman in a publicity stunt to try to attract more fans to the club. So he's chairman in name, but not in actual role. 82.36.85.17 (talk) 21:23, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

Templates due to missing citations throughout

Much of this article cites Dyer's own official Website and it appears to be lacking neutral point of view as it relies too much on the subject's own Website as a source. This article needs additional source citations to verifiable reliable third-party published sources. IMDb.com is not considered a reliable source in Wikipedia; it can be listed as an external link in the EL section (see WP:EL) but it is not edited reliably enough to be used as a source citation for the text of the article or for the filmography. Additional reliable sources are needed. Any controversial material that is not properly documented ("well sourced" acc. to WP:V#Sources and WP:BLP#Sources) has been and may be removed on sight. The format for the source citations was not in keeping with Wikipedia WP:CITE; I've added some source citations using templates as a start for others who want to develop and add proper full citations. See also: Wikipedia:Guidelines for controversial articles in reference to any potentially controversial statement that one might be adding. This is a biography of a living person and must not violate WP:BLP. It also has to conform to Wikipedia:Neutral point of view and should not be written as if it were material in IMDb.com or a fansite; the use of the first name for the subject is not proper style for an encyclopedia article (WP:MOSBIO) (formal style is a requirement); see WP:NOT and Wikipedia:Encyclopedia, as well as WP:Advert. --NYScholar (talk) 06:54, 11 October 2008 (UTC)

Criticism

We must be able to create an adequate, well cited criticism section about such an abhorrent human being. Surely anyone who talks with a faux Cockney accent and has devoted his life to the glorification of violence and the worship of football hooligans must attract some criticism. Mtaylor848 (talk) 09:25, 13 September 2009 (UTC)

Surely his alleged misquoted comments in Zoo magazine have to be mentioned and with this his apparent misogynist attitude. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Fgrimes (talkcontribs) 16:22, 9 May 2010

It already is mentioned. See below. AnemoneProjectors 18:48, 9 May 2010 (UTC)
As for the above opinions that he is abhorrentand mysogenistic, please see WP:NPOV. Losing one's hair is not worthy of mention. AnemoneProjectors 18:51, 9 May 2010 (UTC)

Dyer has publicly admitted that he is losing all his hair now. (92.4.90.73 (talk) 15:56, 29 May 2010 (UTC))

And? No reason to mention it at all. Lots of notable people are bald or balding. We don't mention Phillip Schofield's hair colour, so why mention this? AnemoneProjectors 00:01, 30 May 2010 (UTC)

{{editsemiprotected}} Controversy

He faced controversy in May 2010 after he advised Zoo magazine readers that a heartbroken boyfriend should "cut his ex's face, so no one will want her." In the past he has written an article suggesting that a man should set his lover's pubic hair on fire.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2010/may/05/danny-dyer-zoo-magazine http://www.shoutingatco.ws/blog/2010/04/08/the-wonder-of-danny-dyer/

He says he was misquoted and has offered to pay money to a women's charity. (Ifonlyalabama (talk) 22:01, 5 May 2010 (UTC))

This addition gives too much weight to a negative aspect of the biography of a living person, and may not conform to the biographies of living persons policy. Intelligentsium 00:21, 6 May 2010 (UTC)
Since Zoo have actually canned his column now I added reference to the incident, if it's too strong feel free to remove the wording but the talk about the column should probably at least be in the past tense now! --zootm (talk) 13:54, 7 May 2010 (UTC)

It was brought up again and discussed in length on the Radio 5 live show with Mark Kermode and Simon Mayo, several weeks after the event, so isn't going away. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 157.203.254.2 (talk) 11:43, 26 May 2010 (UTC)

No, I disagree, he wasn't miquoted, and a lot of people have negative views in their Biographies. Dyer said in his 'Ask Danny' Zoo column, "You've got nothing to worry about, son. I'd suggest going out on a rampage with the boys, getting on the booze and smashing anything that moves. Then, when some bird falls for you, you can turn the tables and break her heart. Of course, the other option is to cut your ex's face, and then no one will want her." I have links to back this up at http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2010/may/05/danny-dyer-zoo-magazine . I think Dyer's interview with Attituide magazine is notable enough to be mentioned in the article since he told them he would never necessarily say no to having sex with a man. (92.13.52.144 (talk) 12:37, 8 June 2010 (UTC)) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.12.160.52 (talk)

Celebrity Juice and 'Malcolm Smith'

Dyer has been on Celebrity Juice twice, as far as I'm aware, the first time in 2012. A running joke on the show has been that his real name is Malcom Smith, much to his apparent irritation. He even mentioned that it was on his Wikipedia page. But there seems no mention of it now. I think there should be. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.153.156.105 (talk) 18:20, 7 April 2013 (UTC)

Why - a gag on a comedy show really does not belong in an encyclopaedia article unless it is a significant part of what he is famous for. noq (talk) 15:08, 9 April 2013 (UTC)

As far as I am aware, Danny's real name is Malcolm John Smith. The joke on Celebrity Juice is in relation to the fact that he does not acknowledge this as the name Malcolm does not fit with his hard man image. When filming in Belfast he admitted this. Can his birth name please be added. Many thanks. David Hughes. 23/2/14 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.120.161.6 (talk) 06:51, 23 February 2014 (UTC)

"Malcolm Smith (actor)" redirect problem—please fix!

I happened upon this article via the link for a minor actor named Malcolm Smith in the article about the 1962 cult film "The Creation of the Humanoids". However obscure that actor may be, surely he is entitled to name identification priority over what is apparently an on-air joke name associated with the subject of this article. Although the "Celebrity Juice and 'Malcolm Smith'" section above suggests that it is Danny Dyer's actual birth name, that is not in any way borne out by the article as it now stands (with the remarkable exception of the infobox, at the top of which it appears in bold print with no citation—someone's little joke?), so it seems the only person who can correctly be called "Malcolm Smith (actor)" in Wikipedia is a performer in a film released 15 years before Danny Dyer was born.

Will someone kindly delete the redirect and allow "Malcolm Smith (actor)" to return to redlink status? 66.249.172.233 (talk) 10:11, 17 October 2016 (UTC)
