WWE contract signing[edit]

It's about time official word was made that the WWE signed Harry Smith. I was getting tired of reverting that comment. I know I was being anal retentive about it, but Wikipedia is not a rumor mill. There are a ton of wrestling sites out there that simply aren't reliable. Beisnj 23:13, 8 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Smith has confirmed his signing on his website. I doubt WWE will release a statement. McPhail 18:06, 9 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I saw on a more reliable wrestling website than some of the others that were quoted stating that he had signed. I wasn't even willing to trust his own website. I know that's harsh, but wrestlers make claims all the time that aren't true. Given that edits claiming he was signed to the WWE were also coming in with a bunch of other edits claiming he was 600 pounds and other such silly vandalism, I thought there was a decent chance the whole thing was just nonsense. Beisnj 18:33, 9 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Stats[edit]

WWE lists him as 6'5" and 260lbs. I'm changing it.

(this is a different person due to him not signing) Yes, people, remember it says BILLED height, not real height. Moi! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.137.126.205 (talk) 22:43, 22 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Four flags in infobox[edit]

Why is it necessary? WP:FLAGS is not policy but it has superb rationale why it is silly beyond comprehension. hateless 19:14, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Mistake[edit]

It says he debuted in 2000, yet it says he was born in august 1986, and then it also says he debuted at the age of 15, now isit just me or does anyone else notice a mathematical inequality there?

Well it's a small error yes, as for his young age it's not uncommen for people that young to debut, we've got a few in England. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.195.171.163 (talk) 02:40, 14 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

he lost the championship[edit]

Harry lost the FCW championship to Afa Junior, due to a planned no show title defense —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.73.25.153 (talk) 00:40, 19 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Debut on Raw[edit]

It should be noted he officially debuted on RAW this past week under the name D.H. Smith. 82.4.71.30 03:33, 23 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

it's done NiciVampireHeart (talk) 18:03, 26 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Flag[edit]

I changed his British flag icon to a Canadian flag icon, seeing as how he was born and trained in Canada, not in Britain. --Jimmy Wang Yu: Version 2 05:12, 30 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Plus the WWE have recognized him as Canadian not British. 203.113.237.132 03:42, 3 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Suspended[edit]

Could somebody add that he was suspended on 2nd november along with Chris Masters. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.100.184.159 (talk) 23:43, 2 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

He only wrestled for a couple of weeks and he's already suspended. And, sign your comments. 76.110.82.251 17:27, 3 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's done. NiciVampireHeart (talk) 18:03, 26 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Year of Birth?[edit]

I am a bit confused about his Date of Birth, on onlineworldofwrestling.com it says 1986 now on here it says 1985 and on IMDb it has both!! So which year is it? Govvy (talk) 16:12, 7 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It said 1986 in the infobox, and I've changed the lead to reflect that. I think we should stick with 1986, since OWOW is more reliable than IMDb. If a more reliable source can be found with a different date, then I would suggest that it be added but until then 1986 seems to be correct. ♥NiciVampireHeart♥ 16:55, 7 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

OWOW now has 1985 [1]. The Slam bio, still referenced in the text, says 1986 [2]. Either the ref needs to be changed to OWOW, the year changed back, or both years listed in some way. Gimmetrow 20:56, 16 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Name[edit]

Isn't he Going under The Canadian Bulldog now? and he is a heel Joe ferst (talk) 00:48, 17 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

His in-ring name is DH Smith the call nickname is "The Canadian Bulldog", the bracket attachment nicknames are not a separate alias. They do that in boxing also but the quotation part of the alias is never added to profile name in title. Govvy (talk) 09:57, 17 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Team[edit]

I wasnt sure what part to put this on so ill put it here. Harry "DH" Smith and TJ Wilson will be debuting on Smackdown as a tag team, they have already done some dark matches. Smith seemed to have been forgotten, but on a recent flight Vince McMahon, who was in a bad mood, was going over the booking sheets. The sheets have the names of all the talent under contract. When he came across Smith's name, he blew up on the creative team for letting a Pedigree Kid (Second Generation Star) sit on the sidelines. Vince then demanded that creative come up with a debut storyline ASAP. At the time, Smith and Wilson were paired in Florida, which is why they will debut as a team. Smith and Wilson have experience as a team, as they worked on the Independent scene as "The Stampede Bulldogs."

While that interesting, I'm not sure we can add it to the article. We can't say they're going to debut, until they actually do, because it's crystal balling. If we had the dates of some of the dark matches, which a reliable source like the WON, we could add them in. ♥NiciVampireHeart♥ 13:14, 8 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the move request was: not moved. No prejudice against a new RM with "Harry Smith (wrestler)" as the proposed title. Jenks24 (talk) 10:38, 20 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

David Hart SmithDavey Boy Smith, Jr. – Smith has wrestled as "Davey Boy Smith, Jr." for the past two years; he has not performed as "David Hart Smith" for three years. A Google News Archive search returns 7 results for "David Hart Smith" and 10 for "Davey Boy Smith, Jr." McPhail (talk) 20:26, 9 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support I was thinking about it. Smith had more success and exposition as Davey Boy Smith Jr. (NWA, IWGP titles, matches in PPVs). In fact, maybe we should rename Lance Hoyt/Archer too.--HHH Pedrigree (talk) 18:15, 10 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose I didn't even know he was wrestling under that name. Most of the millions who watched him on Raw wouldn't know that either. A proper Google Test with none of that news alert nonsense shows
1,350,000 results for "David Hart Smith"
199,000 results for "DH Smith"
282,000 results for "Davey Boy Smith Jr" (punctuation does not alter the number)

It's a no-brainer that more people recognize him under the name he used on a worldwide television show. Google News results are irrelevant because they rely on recintism. Alberto Del Rio has 15,000 news alerts while John Cena, Hulk Hogan and Steve Austin all have between 8,000-11,000. That doesn't mean Alberto Del Rio is more popular. Article titles have to be decided by the most common name and in this instance that's clearly "David Hart Smith".

For the record, he has also been called "Harry Smith" on programming as well, but that name's popularity is hard to quantify in a google search due to all the other popular Harry Smiths. I think it's worth discussing if that name could be more common than "David Hart Smith" due to people associating him with that name. On a side-note, it has NOTHING to do with the fact it's his birthname. I just think it's a much better discussion than DBS, Jr. which I had no idea was even being used. Comment: Wikipedia policy favours Google News Archive results over simple Google search results. The figures I quoted above hold more weight. McPhail (talk) 21:03, 11 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose As I tend to do when the most common name only has a relative majority, I'd rather see this at Harry Smith (wrestler). But for the meantime, the Hart name has that relative majority. Post-2008 SmackDown! may not be the hot shit it once was, but it's still lukewarm everywhere. Google results, on the other hand, change all over the place. I still don't trust them. InedibleHulk (talk) 02:49, 11 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
DO NOT LIKE unnatural disambiguation. Sorry, Hulk. starship.paint ~ regal 13:03, 11 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Too bad for you. If it's the most common name, you have to suck it up. Feedback 19:21, 11 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Comment I'd support a move to Harry Smith (wrestler). I see Davey Boy Smith, Jr. being just as wrong as David Hart Smith as the name of this article. リボン・サルミネン (Ribbon Salminen) (talk) 16:58, 11 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, maybe Harry Smith (wrestler) is the best idea. --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 21:25, 17 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

David Hart SmithDavey Boy Smith Jr. – He's been out of WWE now for 6 years and has wrestle as Davey Boy Smith Jr. Perhaps we should move it to Davey Boy Smith Jr. to reflect his current work. Supertey (talk) 20:38, 15 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Support, also has the benefit of tying the article more closely to his father's article. McPhail (talk) 15:05, 18 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Weak oppose, I personally believe that he is still much more well known under his WWE name than anything else. At least outside of Japan.★Trekker (talk) 13:27, 19 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
