Manly controversy needs rewrite[edit]

Improvements are needed to the Manly-Warringah controversy before it can be included under Wikipedia:BLP. The most fundamental issue is that there is nothing in the first two paragraphs which explains why this is Gallop's controversy - the decisions were made by "the NRL" and "the judiciary" according to the article, and Gallop's role in these, if any, and the reason why Gallop contributed to any sort of controversy, is not made clear. I have replicated the text below.

In the lead-up to the 2009 season, defending premiers from the 2008 season, Manly, were in the centre of a controversial season launch in which its star fullback Brett Stewart ended up on charges of sexual assault against a teenage girl. After Manly opted against suspending Stewart, the NRL stepped in and suspended him for the first four NRL matches of that season. To this day, Sea Eagles officials still remain angry over the decision, especially after Stewart was acquitted of all charges in September 2010.[citation needed]

Late in the 2011 season, Brett's brother Glenn was suspended for three matches by the judiciary for his role in the infamous "Battle of Brookvale" match between the Sea Eagles and bitter rivals Melbourne. It was the first match for either Manly or Melbourne attended by Gallop since the former club's infamous season launch of 2009 and the latter club's salary cap breach the previous year.

Manly then went on to win the premiership in 2011, and there was also much discussion as to what words were exchanged between the Stewart brothers and Gallop during the post-match ceremony. Gallop was reported to have told them: "Well done" as they received their premiership medallions, apparently putting to rest any feud the Stewart brothers had between Gallop for their roles in their respective controversies[1].
