triphalangeal thumb?[edit]

The Youtube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vDD7bQTbVsk and some of its reader comments seem to show that David J. Peterson has triphalangeal thumb. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 12:49, 5 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

To follow up on this, Sai ¿? is correct. I have both polydactyly and thumb hypoplasia. In other words, I have an extra index finger on each hand, but am also missing a thumb on each hand. This means I was born with five digits, but four index fingers and no thumbs. Through surgery my two "thumb" index fingers were turned into more or less functional thumbs. I understand that this is basically "original research" in the talk section of my own Wikipedia article, but at least it's something? DavidJPeterson (talk) 23:39, 5 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@DavidJPeterson: Is this a fact you consider private? WP:BLP prohibits inclusion of private information about non relevant topics, especially for living people who are not public figures.

IMO, you are what's technically called a "limited purpose quasi-public figure" — i.e. only when talking about professional conlanging, and even then, only restricted to topics relevant to linguistics & conlanging. You've not made your personal life a matter of significant public discussion even in that context, aside from very limited anecdotes like the background of Megdevi. (Discussion with personal friends doesn't count.)

So basically, if you don't want this included in the article, it's Wikipedia policy that it should not be, out of respect for your privacy. Sai ¿?✍ 14:59, 20 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
